Honestly, I can't tell ya cause a lot of it is just clouded by pure nostalgia for me.
My favorites tend to be Puppet Master's Regime, 1999, The Dead Poets Game, The Holder Series, A Simple Ritual, "Please don't actually try this"/Three Kings, Harbinger Experiment, among a couple others. I tend to be a sucker for ritualpastas compared to anything else which also aren't really for everyone.

I miss old creepypasta shit. It's actually the reason I found /x/ back in like 2011/2012. Then it got co-opted by tumblr teenage girls and it became really homosexual. Same thing happened with SCPs.
Looking back, a lot of the stories were really garbage, written horribly, and not even remotely believable. But when I was a young kid/teen some of the creepypastas were at the very least believable enough to make you go "maybe..?" and that was all that was needed to make your skin crawl. Now that I'm basically in my mid 20s, shit like Analogue Horror seems like the gayest fakest shit that makes me laugh more than anything else, but I'm sure if I was a kid/young teen I would think it's creepy.

A lot of english/journalism majors in college would browse /x/ and flex their creative writing skills and post really well written stories.
