Look up Claudio Maccone on research gate. If you know how to use python or code you can easily simulate some of his modified Drake Equations and it starts to paint a picture of at least a high likelihood of there being at least 1 other sentient species within 50 years are very high. Once you modify it to also modulate locally the odds just go bananas after about 3 billion years. So the likelihood that between now and 1.3 billion years ago that something else became sentient on our planet is actually extraordinarily high, which is fascinating because contrary to that we see no obvious evidence of there being any crypto terrestrials. That's the limits of current science for yah... It begs the question, did earth really just miss multiple opportunities to produce complex intelligence or did something wipe the slate clean? Maybe they left if they were here? It's honestly worth more serious investigation than all the other claims about aliens and such.

This is my theory. We have altered the atmosphere on this planet, the air that we breathe is not the same as the air the ancients breathed. The main alteration to our atmosphere is excess carbon dioxide. If you put a human being in a closed and controllable environment and alter the CO2 levels the average human will descend into a state of fear. A minority will respond with increased awareness and an ability to think in different ways, but most people will respond with terror. I believe it was at Delphi where they discovered that the real reason for the spiritual visions people were having there was due to natural gas leaks. We can see that what we breathe has an effect on the way we perceive the world around us. I believe that because the atmosphere was purer back in the day, the people then could see things that we cannot. I think that's what cryptids may be, I think they're some kind of supernatural beings that we can see in the right conditions. I think there are other things that can cause people today to see things we normally can't, such as drugs or extreme mental states. I think if we fixed the air we breathe we'd see all sorts of crazy shit like our ancestors always did. Another thing I've noticed, people in villages report way more paranormal activity and are far more superstitious than those in towns and cities, and there is way less air pollution in villages.

Yeah, it seems cryptid sightings always happen in the most natural places, like forests and the air quality is obviously so much higher there. I think when we're breathing city smog we're nearly blind to the true nature of reality.

The whole world is breathing an altered atmosphere, some places are worse than others, but there aren't many places unaffected. When I mentioned people in villages seeing more supernatural things they're mostly dealing with ghosts, not cryptids, I just thought it relevant that paranormal activity seems heightened in villages. It doesn't take away from the fact that we've poisoned the air we breathe.
there seems to be this common misconception that plants build their bodies from the earth, they dont, they anchor themselves to the earth then use ultra violet light and a mechanical shape to separate carbon from the air, and build there bodies with said carbon.
all most all the trees in the world are less then 150 years old, a fire and a flood or some such, as you increase the surface coverage of the earth and the vertical coverage of the atmosphere with increasingly large quantities of leaves, the amount of co2, regardless of sources of said carbon, will decrease proportional to the volume of leaf present.

There's nothing that unbelievable about most cryptids. They definitely aren't as crazy as most tall tales have made them out to be, but there are recognized animals that were once considered cryptids, like the okapi.

100%. That's because we haven't discovered all living species yet, and there are many rumors so I'd say it is very likely at least one of these rumors are true. That's how we actually discovered a lot of different animals. But if you're specifically talking about unique cryptids like the jersey devil or mothman, then I don't know. Unlikely.

Some might be either people peering back through time to times when such things have existed in the general area(loch ness monster, other sauropod sightings), some are interdimensional beings(fairies, dwarves), some might be undiscovered animals(Orang Pendek). I'm also sure a lot of shit is undiscovered in the oceans
