I agree, though I try not to push evangelization. It easily becomes a disservice. Ultimately the requirement of faith means people must find their own way by searching, and knowledge before someone is ready to even begin only hinders such a search.

That happens, and then they steal themselves from it. I'm not talking about dissolution in the wrong hands or something like that, I'm talking about the skeptics who see no reason to walk all the way to the sea, so to speak. They should be made curious, not informed.

Right, but not all information strikes intrigue, and often people are inherently biased against types of information. For this reason I can't condone a 1 size fits all approach to spreading curiosity. Pointing out connections probably works with some people; I hope you've had success at least. The only sure fire approach though, is one that comes from understanding another's perspective.

So, to bring this full circle, I'm a huge hypocrite. After all, I only skimmed this thread and asked no questions. For that reason though, I tried to say as little as possible. Sharing enlightenment is important, but for someone who doesn't understand it at all that point can come later.

Another analogy could be that one individual physical lifetime is something like a “finger” put down by the causal body into material life on Earth, whereas the causal body itself would analogously be like the entire body/self animating it putting out that finger. The body itself and consciousness behind it is what did what it did. So the seemingly innocent “finger”, even with its own seemingly limited “finger-consciousness”, still gets punished, assuming one did something like, say, stick it into a fire. And the record of this experience (pain from the hot fire, as “punishment” for sticking one’s finger into the fire) essentially is really affecting the very self animating this finger, of which the finger is a tiny cross-section or part for it to experience things.

Another (imperfect) analogy could be to doing something wrong sober, then popping enough Xanax you forget who you are, but still being punished for it while high on Xanax, because you’re still you even while you seem temporarily forgetful of it all.

However, I do agree with the sentiment that the world can be a cruel and fricked up place, and some of these possibilities are emotionally disturbing.

However, it still seems more coherent, just, and fitting than necessarily temporary/limited suffering caused by one’s sins in the material world (no matter how great the suffering caused, it’s still inevitably limited, because of the limitations of the physical body in both time and space) being punished with eternal hell in the afterlife (the you-got-one-shot-at-life-&-then-eternal-pleasure-or-punishment-after-it worldview of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Zoroastrianism), or the atheist materialist worldview that it just goes entirely unpunished if not punished during one’s lifetime, just as good goes entirely unrewarded if there’s no reward for it in one’s lifetime.

I am still trying to work out cricks in my worldview (as well as even add as many new, great, wonderful, true and valuable truths or perspectives to it as I can), so I am not preaching this as gospel, but sort of speaking devil’s-advocate style on intelligent reincarnation-believers would say, or the most intelligent theologians and mystics of faiths teaching it. (Although mainstream forms of Buddhism get trickier and more difficult with their “no-self” teaching, so this is different from that).

You can even sort of reverse-engineer/derive some of this from stuff like Robert Monroe and his cultivation of out-of-body states and supposed journeys into his “higher self”, or higher, supramaterial aspects of himself.
