why do we call priest father, when only God is our father. Why does the catholic church have pagan/Egyptian symbols at the church/uniforms? I can understand the jesuit takeover, but I believe catholics(Romans) have been trying to discredit Christians since the beginning.
Because the apostles instructed elders to lead the church. In Greek, presbyteros. But it later got genderized to distinguish women and men leaders (abbess and abba) and this transferred to English over time. It doesn't care the same connotation as Jesus was warning against, as in a father they owe everything to.
