reddit, unironically. They ruin everything. The frontier pattern was even applied to the backrooms. First it was just a few explorers, then there were factions, then the government knows about it and uses it too, then it's part of something grander than the universe itself and there are people fighting over the backrooms and there are people dedicated to rescuing people who go into the backrooms.

They do this with everything. Humans take everything that's produced and expand it until it's a stripped down formula they can "Worldbuild" with, ie run into the grand like the braindead hypersocialized animals they are.

Like who read aboput the backrooms and thinks hurr durr I'll make a gubbermint beeroh who knowz in iz thare 2!!!!! Yeah, it's a sturation problem, with shitty writers and their soft propaganda mental degradation / hypnosis content drowning out everything else.

Plebbit making shit tier creepypasta has nothing to do with interest falling off here, that happened because the /x/ user base shifted into moronic frick heads who just make up the most stupid conspiracy theories in the world.
Plebbit writing creepypasta never has nor ever will prevent EerieWeb users writing creepypasta.

Fine, have it your way. There was gradual attrition of people as they aged and now the world is trashed therefore the context that produced them and their creative outlets is gone and the upcoming generation is too brain damaged and fired to bother to produce anything at all. Their entire conception of "content" is warped to match the hollowed out shell they call a mind.

        Happy now buddy?

I disagree with your tone but I do agree the big issue is /x/ went from a bunch of weirdos half-in-on-the-joke discussing weird and spooky shit in a fashion that could be whimsically interpreted as fact, fiction, or somewhere in the middle - and the fun was in that middleground. Nowadays that creativity's been forcibly realigned towards everyone wanting to be the next big ARG or the next prophecy or Q or some shit. People writing fiction aggressively presenting it as fact, with no space for that old middleground of "It might not be real, but it's fun to discuss the consequences of if it were."

          >/x/ went from a bunch of weirdos half-in-on-the-joke

2024 reality is no joke. It's not funny anymore. We grew up, that's what happened.

            Anonymous

You're part of the problem. Everyone here knows the world sucks shit in a scary and unfunny way. It's sucked in such fashion for longer than you've been alive - if you weren't so sophomoric in your annoying pity party you narcissistically drag everyone around you into, you'd be aware of this fact and wouldn't want to inundate everyone else who's aware of it further in the shit. The shoemaker's kids are the ones with holes in the soles. The world being dystopic is something we're all dealing with, why are we not allowed to leave it at the door and have some laughs about skeletons or give ourselves some insulated heebie-jeebies over bumps in the night? Why is it always dread and terror you and your afterbith enforce on us?
"Growing up" doesn't require killing whimsy and removing fun conversation in favor of how to please your baser senses or make yourself seem important or terrorize the profoundly mentally ill people who also come here. If anything, you're not grown up at all - you're just a temperamental child knocking things off shelves for attention.

Real life is scarier and more interesting than gay fiction stories about hyper realistic blood and scary restaurant mascots. Touch grass.

            Anonymous

Yeah, but you try to discuss any of it in most places you get b& for naming "them" and other "hate speech". Many of us would rather get away from reality.

            Anonymous

I touch grass every day. I am inundated with the process of touching grass, more than you'll ever have to think about. Why would I bring the grass-touching to a place where grass-touching is not required? The only people who want to discuss and hyperfixate on "reality" here are the people who aren't actually experiencing it in their day to day, so they need to get their fix elsewhere.

It was said on another thread few days ago. That yeah, pre- 2016 most posters "were in on the joke". But then influx of new people came and started taking the jokes seriously never understanding the hidden irony.

I think this is where the "clown world" meme is coming from. People who were serious started understanding the joke. Maybe creepy pastas will return.

Also, the fricking monetization of internet stories is cancer. If we never have a creepypasta revival it's because greedy idiots realized how valuable their OC is

          >People writing fiction aggressively presenting it as fact,
As previously stated, that's because it's propaganda written for the ionized and atomized "personal reality" and "post truth" world. They're not stories, they're brainwashing narratives. That's why they're written that way. Always getting out ahead of and narrativizing future events, predictive programming, etc.

It's not about the money, it's an essentially evil soul degrading operation. Lots of Ericksonian hypnotic elements included. Narrators are in on it actively or passively. People say they fall asleep listening to those channels. Fricked up.

reddit was the 9% content distributors of the raito of 1% content creators found in original creepypasta but the ruining occured when those seeking only capital took content distrupited and republished it on youtube for the 90% consumers. this created a platform for content creators to profit from what they were already doing, and the platform with terms and conditions streamlines the content the creators create for the widest appeal thus changing what you originally found appealing in the creation.

It's not the zoomer's cup of tea and millennials outgrew it.

too many zoomers and redditors come here now.

A few things. Probably the main one is that zoomers have absolutely no imagination whatsoever.
The other big one is the amount of plebbit channels that popped up, put greentexts through a text to speech, and reaped the shekels from it.
Second one actually reminds me of a documentary I watched a few years ago

      >Little chink fella
      >Lives in a one bedroom toilet with his family
      >Replicates art works by old masters, mainly Van Gogh, and sells them to a contact in the Netherlands
      >These are really good replicas and they should be because he paints them 28 hours a day
      >Contact buys them off him for just enough that he can sustain his family
      >Documentary makers fix a meeting between the replicator and the contact
      >Fly the replicator out to the Netherlands and he's really excited about it all
      >Meets the contact
      >Contact is even happier than the replicator
      >Then the replicator's entire demeanor changes
      >He's very stand offish and incredibly pissed off
      >He doesn't say it, but you can tell just by looking at him
      >The contact remains happy throughout and talks about him being a friend for life etc
      >Little chink flies home and immediately cuts ties with the contact
      >Why?
      >Because what the replicator saw was the contact's little stall
      >Now the replicator knew the contact was selling his paintings because that's business
      >What he didn't know is that the contact was paying him like €10 per painting and then selling them at his stall for €650 each

Long story short people weren't do the work for free or as good as free.
The Commies had a saying which sort of fits, but not quite
      >You pretend to pay me and I pretend to work

I'd say all posts ITT so far (minus the one intentional shitpost) are correct, but would also add that the number of posters on EerieWeb with the attention span to even write or read something as long as the pasta in OP's pic is not particularly high nowadays. The goldfish-brains who started piling in and setting the tone in the mid-2010s have so effectively stigmatized the very concept of effortposting that I think most people who would be inclined to make anything like this end up going, "Eh, what would be the point?" That seems to be changing a bit as of late 2023 (using proper capitalization/punctuation has also been coming back into fashion lately for some reason), but the moral arc of EerieWeb always bends towards laziness and decadence, so there's no reason to have confidence that will last.
