Who is Spiritus Sanctus?

Who is the Holy Spirit? I understand the concept of God the Father. The Son of God is even easier to understand through his "human" character. But the Holy Spirit is something I do not understand. Is it some kind of divine energy? A divine revelation?

If you understand the truth about God, then do you "have" the Holy Spirit? Is it literally a spirit, something like a soul? I tried reading about it online, and most of it is just nonsense that doesn't explain what it is but rather explains the effects of its presence.

I totally don't get it. Let's say God is a transmitter and I am a receiver. Having a connection, receiving his signal from the transmitter, does that mean I have the Holy Spirit? So, is the Holy Spirit a connection with God? Why then is the Holy Spirit considered a person?

Is it some form of gnosis? If the Holy Spirit provides understanding and can distinguish truth from falsehood, it seems like some form of gnosis or enlightenment.

Yes, it is what connects the human to God, (Father with the Son).

It's a person, because you can speak and interact with it like any person. It's really not mysterious once you had that experience.

However, people or we don't really understand what even a 'person' is, because many spiritual layers are hidden for us, but we would need to understand those, to be able to explain what a person is.

Get a personal relationship with God, and you'll experience it yourself, and then you can ask away.

    Basically,

God, is a substance that has no qualities, but potentiality to become everything.

It doesnt have a space coordinate, doesnt have mass, doesnt have time, doesnt have a name, doesnt have anything, because that would limit it.

It therefore is no-thing, but not nothing.

Once this omnipotent substance wants to interact with humans, it has to take on some form, like a time, maybe a voice, some characteristics, and in the case of the holy spirit, it basically becomes a consciousness which with a human being can interact in its own tongue etc.

Usually in Catholicism and any Western Christianity God's essence is pure actuality. That is what God is. Not who he is, the answer there is the Trinity. Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox are not fans of that. Eastern Orthodox tend to endorse a view of what God is in terms of essence and energies or being at work. This reached it's full expression with Gregory Palamas

The Holy Spirit is, in effect, the Divine Feminine in Christianity's trinity. There is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit from an exoteric perspective. With the Catholic Church's and their derivatives' (Protestant branches) disregarding of a higher Feminine force, that is what Spiritus Sanctus is. In Judaism, the name for this is Shekinah, whom in the dissolution of oneness and division into duality from the Angelic and Human falls, was separated from God the Father in complete union.

She was a Human, real or fictional, who achieved Theosis; Deification within Catholicism and some other Christian denominations.

It’s the feminine nature of God. Mary’s celestial form she had before becoming human and returning to that form. It’s why nearly every miracle post the Ascension has involved a woman resembling Mary.

God the Father is the One who acts
God the Son is the One who is acted on
The Holy Spirit is the action itself
This is my interpretation of it, God impregnates with the Word and the Spirit gives birth to the Son.
God the father is Being the Spirit is becoming and the Son is a reflection of said Being that's expressed through the medium of spirit. But like another anon in here said, in truth it is one single substance expressing itself in different aspects. The Spirit is very often synonymous with water, Alchemy goes very in depth with these concepts. if you'd like recommendations to further explore the topic I'd be happy to help.

Soul is entirely different from spirit. Let alone the Spirit of God. Take your own advice. You're the one misinformed.

He is no other than God. No less than God. Sometimes the Apostles called him the Spirit of Jesus or Spirit of Christ. Because he is Christ. There is no separate Spirit of Jesus and Holy Spirit, as some teach. He is Christ, but the Annointer, rather than Anointed. Not Christ the Son of Man, but the Spirit who enables us to also become like the Son of Man and resurrects our own nature. And there is only way out of this fallen world and all of it's cycles: By experiencing the resurrection from the Spirit here and now. Not merely sprinkling of material water, but true Baptism.

What worked for me was being baptized just as the disciples and Jesus Himself did. Study Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts. Read through them slowly and soak in what is being communicated. And if you dare, venture to believe that the things written there are true. They are true. It all happened. From personal experience, I have reason to believe that the Spirit of Wisdom in the book of Proverbs is the Holy Spirit. Proverbs, mostly written by Solomon, who was the anointed King of Israel. Believers in the Messiah have that same anointing. The epistles after the gospels go into a lot of nuts and bolts instruction on what to do with yourself after having received the Holy Spirit, and frankly, you really can't understand it unless you've received it. One is simply not experiencing the dimension of spirit the Apostles are giving instruction on before having converted into the Kingdom of Heaven. Even Jesus got baptized.

As St. Thomas Aquinas said, the scriptures may as well be death to an outsider. It is death to a new believer too, but a rebirth in Christ. But for many, they stay in death.

    >If you understand the truth about God, then do you "have" the Holy Spirit?
You cannot UNDERSTAND (stand under) the truth about God without it.
    >Is it literally a spirit, something like a soul?
Yes, and even when you have It, you have to seek for It. And nothing you can do with your body and mind can conjure It up, be that meditating, praying, or whatever. It is found by your spirit. Pray in spirit.
Joining the Kingdom of Heaven is an eternal decision, and God knows every man's heart. You can't fool God, so the only way to come before Him is to be pure in spirit and shed all deceit. We can't deceive God like we can deceive people.

Not really, if you cross reference all these elements from different models you'll realize there are some trends. They're all some version of "life energy/force" but for example the prana is considered to be a form of gas produced by breathing, and the ruach literally means "breath". In some models they go in detail as to how this life force forms like with the taoist qi being composed of ying/yang which are magnetic and electric properties, quite similar if you ask me to the electric and magnetic fluid of some branches of western occultism.

But the one thing that unites all of these is their relation to breathing as a form of control or production. The "holy spirit" is more obscure because esotericism is frowned upon when disseminating christianity, so the understanding of the general public has become quite literal or has been conflated with exoteric elements, from here comes the idea of the holy spirit being a person. But if you examine the texts you can see it really is just this christian "life force" that they were seemingly lacking in their system when they shouldn't (and they aren't).

Jesus doesn't describe the Holy Spirit as just being a force and neither does the book of Acts.

I don't want to hear nothing from exoterics. Jesus said that the holy spirit speaks and hears and people directly think it's a person, no thought in their heads.

    >Why then is the Holy Spirit considered a person?
Because the NT describes Him as having personal qualities and as being an individual.

    Look at John 16:13

But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

Jesus tells us that the Spirit hears and speaks, with the implied meaning that though that the Spirit could speak on His own, He will not do so at this time, only speaking whatever He hears.

Look here for a quick summary of other Biblical information on Him.

The Holy Spirit is the remnant in the unconscious of people that embodies the hallowed characteristics that also imbued the Son of God. It is something that transcends personifications and aids people on a personal level. If you embody the Holy Spirit it will connect you with the realm of thought in which the Father resides and from which the Son descended.
