What is the best way to reach my potential as a Shaman in Western Society?

Out of nowhere, by her own volitian my psychologist has brought up Shamanism twice now. This time without me even thinking or talking about Shamanism she tells me I can never be a Shaman because they are all in South America anyway and they come from a long line of being trained and brought into the practice. She has convinced herself that I've gone down the "Shamanic path".
Now I have researched Shamanism and I have experienced the same kind of thoughts and crisis Shamans go through, I have also studied herbal medicine and have a strong desire to heal people physically and emotionally.

I was going to mention mentioning that is cringel but are people not allowed to talk to psychologists nowadays? I know her limitations and mundane way of thinking but I try to get some good strategies out of it and it's good to talk to someone when I've been chronically lonely for 15 years.

I'm a bit of a shaman myself, ::blush::
    I suggest practice "holotropic breathwork".
Hone your body with qi gong.
First thing to try to commune shamanically with is your body. Your cells, organs, energy center are all alive and have consciousness you can have back and forth conversations.
Practice self-hypnosis and getting into a trance state. Practice creating a sacred festive atmosphere where you can play music, drum, or at least headbang.
Work on integrating your shadow and healing your inner child.
Condition yourself to be able to not automatically react to upsetting or emotional things, to stay gentle and patiently communicate with people/beings of unknown quality and quantity. To stay confident and firm when dealing with malicious or mischievous entities.
Analyze your dreams, turn them lucid, learn to not shy away from nightmares.
Communicate with your spirit guides and ask them for advice or lessons on a regular basis.
Meditate on mystical POVs like "time is an illusion, only Now exists." and how reality works if everything is alive and consciousness is fundmental reality. Meditate on having unconditional love for yourself, the world, all beings the universe.

Wise one how do I meditate? Please tell me how to start

It's simple, just sit up straight with your eyes closed. Some people like to keep them half-open, if your intent is to activate your inner sight use a blindfold or head covering so your sight is pitch black. Breathe deeply in and out, expand your belly as you inhale. Don't force your stray thoughts away, instead be gently curious about them, like a cat watching a hole waiting to see if a mouse comes out.
React to any thoughts and feelings with gentle loving kindness, do not argue with them or try to resolve them, do not judge them, instead focus on feeling love and compassion for the consciousness that produced the thoughts or feelings. If you start seeing visions don't grasp onto them or logically analyze them, either ignore them or gently wordlessly "feel" them.
When meditating on a mantra or an object think "I am", and then focus on the wordless feeling that "I am" triggers. Focus on your breath and how it is like wind moving you along on your meditation. When you want to learn about something or commune with it think "I am the person/thing." and see what pops into your mind and feelings, its kinda like improv role-playing.

An extra little technique that supercharge my meditation practice is to take a moment in the beginning to think about alll the other people in the world who are meditating right now with you. Visualize you are all together in a room connecting with each other like nodes in a supercomputer.
If you get negative entities or upsetting impressions from your shadow self, don't get discouraged or afraid, you are more powerful than them, treat them like cute children pranking you. Send them love and forgiveness, hear them out i.e. like "Why fight when we can get along instead? How can we help each other?"
But long story short the basic method is focus on your breath. Observe your thoughts like they are someone else's or random sounds from a radio, don't force them away or dwell on them. Even if you get carried away in your thoughts it's still beneficial if you sit still with your eyes closed for 20 min. The important part is to practice a little bit every day.
One more thing: the key to relaxing your mind is to relax your body. If you have time tense and relax your muscles, stretch, take a hot shower or soemthing before meditating.

    METEYA ᛃᛟᚢᚨᛞᛖᚢᛊ

If you wish to pursue the path of a spiritualist, with those intentions, then I recommend these practices in order to open your chakras/spiritual energies:

    1. Kundalini Yoga
    2. Tonglen Practice
    3. Vipassana Meditation

The higher your soul's vibrational state the more the mysteries of the world will avail themselves to you, especially past the throat chakra into the third eye chakra. Beware though, demons will attack and attempt to possess you at high attainment levels. Study psychosis and demonic possession, be aware of their symptoms, and be prepared to seek medical help if your energies grow too strong too fast and you get attacked.

the shamanic calling comes from above us, and is marked by trial and initiation. for some it can be so powerful the initiate must choose between shamanism and death. they are the sacred spine of humanity, a lineage that runs so deep in our blood we witness the work of shamans throughout history all around us. the great symbol of the western shaman is hermes thrice great, or thoth-horus. the messenger and the symbol of the rebirth throughout centuries of civilization. the amazonian or yaqui indian shaman are variations of a social role that is a blessing and a curse. the giver, the keeper of the secrets, and the outcast. you dont try to become a shaman because if it is willed for you to become one it will initiate you. and when you reach this sacred state, its not physical isolation like in the stories, but similar to a human among animals. a shepherd.
