What are the most expedient systems? People often recommend Vajrayana, but it requires initiation (unless you pick and choose practices like Milam). But lately I've become interested in Hermeticism.

systems could be anything, all you need are techniques and baseline truths that you can verify; virtually all systems are the exact same, they just use different names and have slightly different techniques

most modern systems are derived from old pranic/qi views of psychic functioning, that from which lucid dreaming is derived
even basic techniques taught by people like robert monroe/robert bruce will get you into a lucid dream, and help you understand the underlying existence of the spiritual body and its functioning
most historical sources are more concerned with philosophical bullshit instead of basic working knowledge, like how the astral/etheric body functions, how you can manipulate it to do the shit you want, ect.
if you want an actual answer to the most expedient system, start with something like New Energy Ways V2 then soak up knowledge from all the conflicting or severely differing sources you can get your hands on, like Taoist systems (go on the Daobums for that one).

How often do practice blended states of consciousness? Do you indulge in magical thinking, daydream, recall your dreams while waking up?
You could spend 2 hours meditating and be back into material mode within 5 minutes if all of your practice involves sharp modal shifts.

You literally get SP every night or else you'd be acting out your dreams while asleep. You just aren't keeping your conscious mind aware before it happens. Try taking some huperzine A or galantamine after doing wake and back to bed and it'll be real easy to get SP and vivid lucid dreams.

According to who? It's a naturally occurring substance found in plants that has been found to be useful in treating alzheimers but it also works great for dream recall. Melatonin makes it easier to fall asleep and also increases dream recall but galantamine is like 100 times more effective than melatonin as far as giving you vivid/lucid dreams. The main downside is that it builds up in your system so you need to space out usage every few days or you get diminishing results.

If you're certain you know how to properly practice milam sure, go ahead. You'll get the "OBE" experience with pretty much any type of meditation that isn't vipassana, vipassana will make it harder. If you want to OBE you need to withdraw all your senses, so shamatha is the easier way. You need to understand how OBE is initiated, your awareness needs to transfer to a subtler layer of your being, and for this to happen the awareness can't be tangled in the physical layer by the senses, as soon as the senses are completely withdrawn in the physical layer your awareness will naturally jump to the next subtler layer and that is exactly when the "OBE" experiences happen.

          >If you're certain you know how to properly practice milam
I'm merely using guides from established people, books like The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep, that kind of thing. I'm not a Vajrayana practitioner, nor a Buddhist.
          >shamatha
This is breath concentration meditation, yes? It's what I'm doing, but I'm very bad at it currently. How long does it usually take to get good if you meditate between 40 minutes and an hour per day?

            Anonymous

Shamatha is just single pointed attention, it's a form of meditation based on concentration, has nothing to do with the breath, just so happens that the breath is the most common object of meditation across many meditative practices, including shamatha.

            >How long does it usually take to get good if you meditate between 40 minutes and an hour per day
If you're doing one hour a day and you haven't felt symptoms of sensory withdrawal you're doing something wrong. The symptoms of sensory withdrawal tend to be tinnitus and a "tingling", pleasurable feeling that varies in intensity and it's felt in the whole body.

It's not something you need to master to get results, as i said before, the only thing you need to do in order to experience "OBE" is to detach your awareness from your physical senses, this can happen 10 minutes into the meditation in your first day. With practice you just make it more consistent and less based on random dynamics.

Shamatha uses attention as a vehicle for your concentration, attention is atrophied in most people, it'll get stronger as you practice, the whole point is to have single pointed attention in your breathing and nothing else, the moment your attention wanders away from the breathing you just gently bring it back to it, the bigger the fuss you make about it the bigger the set back. Just keep practicing and you'll randomly and suddenly feel the symptoms i was mentioning.

            >you're doing something wrong
I focus on the breath, feel when the mind starts drifting off, focus it back on the breath, rinse and repeat. I don't know what I could possibly be doing wrong. But yeah I've meditated 30+ minutes in a single sitting and only felt relaxed.

Practice, just like anything else. You don't need to keep your attention for one hour straight, but if it's breaking every 5 seconds you're not going anywhere, and that's typically what happens with most people.

Not, OP, but I've been wondering about this... I'm trying to do surat shabd, but at this point, I keep hearing the tinnitus (I think) ring, and I'm not sure if I should listen to the tinnitus or keep returning to the mantra. What do?

Putting your attention on the tinnitus will only attach your senses to it, and you want the opposite. Just address it's there and keep your attention in your practice, in your case keep it to the mantra.

The other half you will drink when you wake up.

Same tbh. Only once on a high acid dose I came close to AP. Could see my body glowing white through my eyelids and my arms moved out of my body. It was only a short moment though, and I felt chained down to the ground at my chest.
Only once ever did I have a dream so vidid to think that it was real life, and once a few years ago I had a vidid daytime vision.
I dream a lot normally though.

Possible explanations I came up with (im white too):
    1) We are christian and protected by Jesus (at least I am)
    2) We are hylics (weird that we seek out spiritual knowledge then)
    3) Vaxx did this to us. Improbable as I already felt inept in this regard b4 vax (yes Im a stupid vaxxie, what happened happened)
    4) We are insane consoomers and deeply manipulated on a genetic level to be inept. Maybe even gangstalked without noticing. In silence I always hear a high eeping sound. Its not Tinnitus as I dont hear it in nature.
    5) Heavy karma/shadow weighing us down. Shadow Work asap then.

      1) Not me
      2) A possibility but as you say, why would we even be interested in this?
      3) Unvaxxed
      4) I consoom far less than the average person. Doubtful
      5) This is the most probable one. Where does one get started with shadow work? Active imagination?

I am currently in the middle of it, so I cant report from the finished perspective .
        2 main parts to it.
        1) Dream interpretation. You already journal dreams, right ? Now interpret them. They speak symbolically to you. Try to stick to the associations you have regarding the symbols that pop up. Only consult external interpretation sources if really necessary.
Good start is Jung: Memories, Dreams and Reflections.

        2) Active Imagination. This relates to alchemy. Just focus your mind on a topic or an emotion and let your imagination flow freely. Afterwards, record all that happened.
For deeper explanation, read "Jung and the Alchemical Imagination". For examples if necessary, read Jungs Red Book. A good source is also the "Make it Conscious" YouTube Channel.

          >Dream interpretation
I try to do this, isn't it good to have some feedback though? Sometimes I get very detailed dreams with a heavy emotional content but am absolutely incapable of intepreting them.
Like for example I posted this https://archive.4plebs.org/x/thread/37884092/ a few weeks ago but I'm no closer to finding out what it means.
          >focus your mind on a topic or an emotion
Can you also focus your mind on a dream you had and let it "play out" another way?
I started reading the Red Book, I'm about halfway through. Very dense and difficult though.
Thanks for the recs. How is your own shadow work going, and how long have you been doing it for?

On and off for quite some time, regularly just for a few weeks. Have made a character changing experience through it some time ago (though not on purpose), but recently it went very slowly.
I feel you for the interpretation stuff, its really hard for me to get satisfactory results too. Feedback could be good but in the end only you yourself can know what the symbols represent to you. I guess its just about gitting gud. Getting into Astrology or Alchemy might help, am on that currently. I also heard that you can use LoA and prayers to get hints at dream interpretations.
I personally havent even found the Red Book to be quite helpful. I dropped after about 50% because its just examples that can maybe show you how a result can look. But they are useless to you personally.

I guess you could through Active Imagination rephrase a dream if you focus on the emotions/thoughts that the dream invoke in you, not on the dream itself. Might try that this weekend.

      Let me attempt to explain.
Ancestral memories, astral travel, lucid dreaming... they all point to the same place. For the most part, they are a relationship with yourself. However, there is more to it, and I cannot fully explain from a DNA standpoint how it would work. I think the notion of literally leaving the body is misguided and merely creates delusion about what is happening.

These things are an acute realization of the self and the sexes (and actually, all major aspects of our biology that imprint us with psychological archetypes, of which gender is merely the most fundamental), which leads to a deep ability to project back in time, informed by the stories passed down to us. so, the mythology is the fodder or the food, and the mind in a correct orientation is suddenly able to perceive it all correctly.

So it's not so much that it's literally real, but one needs to believe it's real in order to perceive it fully

And this constitutes the great riddle in the entire tradition, because they need to keep knowledge that the idea is not literal, but they need to preserve the metaphor and a belief in it, so people will continue to know how to interpret the myth and understand our history.

You know, there's another thing that is curious. Language itself. Sometimes, it's almost like the word is a literal ancestral memory that took us possibly hundreds or thousands of years to learn.

So I say "cow", but this is like an echo of something deep and inherent to my mind, rather than just a superficial arrangement of letters/sounds.

One thing I have learned is to not guess. Let the truth exist without disturbing it with your ideas about what you think it is.

Much harder to do than it sounds.. but it doesn't take any effort at all. Patience.. if you are ever going to know what it actually is.. guessing is only going to get in your way

Maybe your first idea was somewhat correct.. but you don't know what you can discover though patient observation until you have the experience behind you

So if I don't have proximity to people like that, what should I do?

Feel the energy around you.. strong connection to distant things is more clear than weak connection to the near

You can connect to people in spirit through focused intention.. if you connect with them in the non physical realms they will eventually be present in the physical realm. It does not matter where you are

Some people will think these are empty words because they can not hear what they mean

This question.. may be a reflection of a part of the problem. How indeed. Do you want to learn or do you want to be safe?

You were not safe when you were in your mother's womb.. you have never been safe. The eventual result of life is death.
Expect hazard and peril. beware at all times. This is no reason to not live and discover.

Some locations allow you to indulge in the illusion of being secure.. of being safe. Some locations have less chaos and bad actors.. but there are no locations that have none

If it is certain that there does exist hazard in the world how do you go about living life. When we learn about life, how do we know our own understanding is correct? Further lessons often reveal errors of presumption and false conclusions. Do you aim to arrive at old age, and eventually death, having learned little but remained 'safe'?

Knowledge can be it's own reward.. and all concepts of value are subject to sudden revision.

Yes, there are many complications that arise from dealing with people. Some of the people who you will learn the most from, or because of, do not have your own well being at heart. Some of them would mean you harm, if only they were able. Such is life. For various reasons some people are greater or lesser. What does nature have to say about this?

Focus your intentions in the ethereal realms of the spirit and watch the universe unfolding around you

The processes of "seeking" and "finding" are already operating in the quantum fields.. simply focus and observe

So if I don't have proximity to people like that, what should I do?

Taking a lot of magnesium made my dreams consistently way more vivid, I've heard glycine also helps.

    no soul syndrome. Sad.
Try having faith that if you cant lucid dream you will die or be tortured for eternity because the afterlife is an eternal dream. This will convince your brain to go into danger mode and force you to lucid dream almost daily

You can't if you are a choosen one
I unironically can't do it too
Higher powers are not allowing it
Let me guess you had some prophecy as well about your future?
I might be wrong anon on my last assumption but I'm usually more right than wrong

        same
tho I'm shizo enough to still believe

Let's say you just know things, (not like trivial shit or future seeing but something much deeper, it's hard to explain unless you can experience it yourself)
        instinctually we could say
        No need for other methods
        You just know them
That's one such characteristic if the choosen one but of course there are many more ways and some might not have any of these and still be the ones, it's like a quality some may possess and some not

        >but something much deeper, it's hard to explain unless you can experience it yourself
it's okay, anon, you can admit
I'm shizo too bro I know the feeling you speak of

How do you come to the conclusion of being a "chosen one"? Why would higher powers prevent that?
I had a vivid daytime vision about my future once, though symbolic, no actual future prediction.
      See

Shadow Work asap then.

      >this shit better be good.
Tried it, felt nothing. Not gonna spend 3 months of feeling nothing till "maybe I feel something", good luck though.

I think it all kinda depends on how desperate you are, and your level of desperation will make you exaggerate what certain sensations mean.

For example there's an exercise where you rub your hands together, but ironically you are told in the book that "feeling energy" can be anything, even feeling warmth. Now you can see how easily someone that is desperate to believe this thing works will convince themselves that the warmth generated from rubbing their hands together is now some new magical phenomenon rather that shit they've experienced their whole life.

Basically, I think this shit is a placebo, the poeple that said "it worked" just wanted it to work so badly that they interpreted any sensation they could as it working.

People like me on the other hand who try these things from a neutral standpoint of "maybe it'll surprise me" won't fall for any placebos, so it just won't work.

Good luck though, but I'm you better prepare to be disappointed if you are a self aware person that doesn't fall for placebos. You'll keep trying and trying and the fact that nothing is happening will be undeniable to you.

      Robert Bruce is legit

      >Robert Bruce is legit
I honestly don't think so at all.

      >trying my hardest to lucid dream, induce experiences like OBEs, synchronicity, and also meditate
      >nothing happens
      >nothing abnormal or interesting (on a spiritual level) has EVER happened to me at all
I think something inside me might be blocked or something. How do I unblock it?

Had lucid dreams all the time in my teens, without even trying. It's overrated, and guess what, you still have to wake up to your mediocre life everyday anyways.

Had a kind of crazy one (very short, woke up quickly) a few days ago.

I never get peoples obsession with OOBE unless they are using it to get some occult abilities that can affect their waking lives.

It's just another form of escapism really. Go watch a movie or something.

If your waking life is garbage no amount of lucid dreams or OOBE is going to make you enjoy life. You still have to wake up after every dream.

It's not going to change anything in your actual life.

Truth is astral experiences and ghosts and shit like that are entirely predicated on your chosen incarnation. Check your birth chart. If you have a lot of water or 12 house placements, you’re on track for it but me personally my Neptune and Uranus are conjunct in Capricorn and I’m extremely psychic but almost all in a material sense

Unironically spend some time playing VR games anon. I was never able to lucid dream before (despite astral projecting without effort). Something about it fixed me. Now I can lucid dream whenever I want.
