Smoking for Shamanic and Community Bonding

I've often seen it claimed that the peace pipes smoked by native tribes lacked the significant addictive properties of modern tobacco. How true is this? I know they also mixed various other herbs in, so maybe that cut it? Also obviously it wouldn't have the added chemicals that bolster the rate of absorption that they shove in modern cigs.

Smoke pipes. It’s based and globohomosexual hates nicotine.

It's actually terrible for your teeth though.
Tobacco and cannabis smoke will stain your teeth over 10 years, sometimes immediately with black tar from a particularly wet drag.
The smoke also prevents saliva production from protecting your teeth and gum health.

Smoking the same weight of pipe tobacco compared to filtered cigarettes could be worse for you because the pipe isn't filtered at all.

    >lacked the significant addictive properties of modern tobacco.
Modern tobacco crops are cross-bred and genetically designed, as well as fertilized with radioactive material (hard to believe I know, but check it out) to yield much higher levels of nicotine.
The Native Americans would harvest it from the woods to smoke, or maybe grow some in fields, but not the same way as today.

Of course they were all still addicted and the war was over when one side ran out of tobacco.

modern tobaccos have been artificially selected to not contain certain alkaloids, and are considerably easier to smoke. If you grow your own tobacco, and smoke it, you'll find its extremely psychedelic. Peace pipe ceremonies consist of drawing smoke into your mouth, and blowing it on someones nose, otherwise its too strong

tobacco was nerfed, it was veeeery strong (some say 9 times strong), tus theoretically more addictive (nicotine is highly aditicve) but in practice is so strong that is impossible to chain smoke (imagine taking a shot of isopropyl alcohol)

Is there still a place to get more wild cultivars with this potency?

yes but it's hard to find, search for nicotiana rustica or mapacho
I never experience with this stuff but I think it could be dangerous if you're not careful, so do your own research

If you have the patience to grow your own, you could separate the upper leaves which tend to contain the most nicotine from the lower ones if you desire higher nicotine content

The Rustica varieties of tobacco (shamanic tobacco) is far stronger than a typical strain such as Virginia and supposedly also contains trace amounts of DMT and MAOI, I could see why it would be a much more intense experience.

they mixed it with red or white willow bark (inner bark) which is basically aspirin, counters the artery hardening circulation damaging effects of nicotine

while ciggarettes are highly engineerd products meant to optimize nicotine absorption and thus the nicotine "high" profile, natural tobacco still contains nicotine and there is no reason the addiction process wouldnt work. Its just not optimized compared to cigs

I smoke tobacco on a pipe and have done so for two years now. It's really not that addictive, I would put it on a similar tier as alcohol and weed. You get the craving from time to time, but you can go without it.
I only smoke once or twice a week, sometimes I go an entire month without a smoke.
Pipe smoking is nothing like cigarettes, it's not just the chemical composition.
You can't really chainsmoke unless you own a lot of pipes, which you have to clean and take care of, you don't inhale to your lungs, you have to control your breath otherwise the fire burns too high and you risk breaking your pipe or it burns too low and the fire goes out.
So the method of intake alone favours different behaviours, and a huge part of an addicition, beyond the chemicals you take, is how behaviours turn into habits.
