Violet and indigo were extremely expensive in the past. Red is a power color.

No. That dont sound right, there has to be another reason... thinking it might have to do with red representing the color of blood and indigo the color of death.

Also, miss me with these surface level observations.

Correct. It's sacred symbolism. It's not about money. The money is just how we keep the idiots busy.

        >That dont sound right
That's your problem amigo, blue and green simply don't have the qualities befitting royalty, purple and red are inherently powerful and regal

      those are not royal colors
      those are poser colors
royalty makes the colors not the other way 'round
in fact the top royal might as well walk around naked with a huge erection... but we are human so it better not

In Daoism the highest heavens were considered to be purple and hence purple was the divine color. That said the Chinese Emperors wore yellow not purple.

Because they were extremely expensive to produce and incredibly rare, same with blue.

I know the answer to that question. It has something to do with the fact that they were difficult to create, as I recall, dark blue or purple were some of the hardest colors to make at one point in time, they used some type of shellfish to make these colors and it was a difficult job. I don't know about red, though.
