Rarity of blue flowers

Why are blue flowers so rare compared to flowers of other colors? What is the spiritual significance of this?

cause flowers tend to be associated with love, which include red, pink and so on
blue is a cold color that doesn't represent conventional love

I am a blue rose and I know I am. I've been seeing them in my dreams since I was a small child. It sucks ass being a blue rose in spirit, I frighten people precisely because of this

because blue is not an attractive, stand-out colour to insects, which are the entire point of flowers, to enable the plant to sexually reproduce

Blue doesn't contrast very well against the green scenery in nature, also what said
Red, Purple and Yellow are much more contrasting

My spirit seems unnatural, cold and unloving to those who don't know me, no matter what I do. No matter how much I open my mind to other perspectives, or act in a magnanimous and empathetic manner, treat others with kindness and patience, no matter how nicely I dress or style my hair - people are still intimidated by me. I'm not huge, I'm not tall (5'10), I don't look at all like a mass shooter, I don't act like a creepy incel or a desperate loser or a racist or some shit. I have a decent job, my own place, hobbies and hopes and dreams. But something about me scares people, especially in matters of romance. I just gotta find my footing, I'll get there!

Well, I would take that failed quad as a sign from the universe that you really shouldn't hate yourself. As others in this thread pointed out, it's typically a rare color in nature, but one that people do appreciate. And even in the photo you posted, if I recall correctly - the princess in that movie views the little cobbler as a blue rose. Maybe you'll find your princess one day too, you sad little blue rose of a cobbler, I'll be praying for u 2 find luv <3

Thanks, that's really sweet. I didn't even mention romantic love but I guess that can be inferred. Yeah even when I feel like I'll never find love I hold out hope just for hope's sake. I'll hold on to the bitter end, even if I end up alone when I die. I have so many friends and family members to fight for and live for, they keep me going.

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate you.

In German lyric and romantics, the blue flower represents exact this. Romantic, love and deep inside feelings.

because blue is not an attractive, stand-out colour to insects, which are the entire point of flowers, to enable the plant to sexually reproduce

      Ultra-Violet?

Yeah, and blood too, it is red or dark red, and can be a disgusting yellow in certain insects, but you don't ever see green blood, blue blood or purple blood

The blood of some types of crab is based on copper instead of iron and is therefore green.
      Take a look:

Blue (especially the shade on op's pic) is not really correspondant to love, to me it seem like the opposite to the warmth that Red exude, it's cold, distant, uncaring, but beautiful to look at

I would say it reminds me of a stoic love. One that has limited affection and can be distant, but is still deep.

The rarity of it is something to be appreciated, but it's the subtle kind of beauty standard that a human would hold, and flowers don't bloom for people they bloom for bees.

Adding in, the chemical composition of blue is actually hard to achieve in nature, too. So if a color is a pain in the ass to make and doesn't work very well, there's no real reason to bother with it.

Blue is very rare in all living things because there is no biological pigment that naturally appears blue. Anthocyanins can appear blue under certain conditions, but generally appear purple and only occur in plants.
Generally the blue is a structural color, meaning it's caused by very fine microscopic structural features that bend light to produce the blue color.
Though in the case of blue eyes, they are blue for the same reason as the sky or the sea.

the eyes are the windows to the soul, yes? So blue eyes must reflect the cosmos and the beauty of the soul, whereas green eyes represent nature and the beauty of understanding the soul

Yeah, and blood too, it is red or dark red, and can be a disgusting yellow in certain insects, but you don't ever see green blood, blue blood or purple blood

      some lizards/insects have blue blood.

      >no biological pigment that naturally appears blue
not quite true, iron (ferrocyanide) and cobalt can easily make blue... iron is used for red / yellow / light green anyway... the problem is the absence of mechanisms and/or enzymes
      >Anthocyanins
indeed organic pigments are hard to synthesize hence the reliance on relatively abundant copper and iron...
      >blue is a structural color
yet how we explain why some plants or animals sacrifice resources to achieve that precision... or why do they use it just for blue and not other colors
      >Though in the case of blue eyes, they are blue for the same reason as the sky or the sea.
that's just stupid, the sky is blue because concentrated (i.e. deep, big volume) of oxygen is colored blue... the sea just reflects the sky

Lots of circumstances that create a blue appearance come from rayleigh scattering.
That includes bird wings, eyes, water, and the sky.

rayleigh scattering is blue only because concentrated oxygen is blue you dum-dum
same way a leaf looks green when you look on the surface of it but also when you look through it
the structural blue due to interference has nothing to do with rayleigh scattering
heck at this point I may hazard to say that rayleigh scattering is a meme

            Anonymous

            >rayleigh scattering is blue only because concentrated oxygen is blue
No, but the the makeup of our atmosphere does affect what wavelengths are absorbed and scattered. The oxygen doesnt cause the blue color, it STOPS the sky from being violet by absorbing that wavelength.
            > As previously stated, Rayleigh scattering is inversely proportional to the fourth power of wavelength, so that shorter wavelength violet and blue light will scatter more than the longer wavelengths (yellow and especially red light). However, the Sun, like any star, has its own spectrum and so I0 in the scattering formula above is not constant but falls away in the violet. In addition the oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere absorbs wavelengths at the edge of the ultra-violet region of the spectrum.
You almost know what you are talking about, but it seems you have not properly remembered your fun fact.
            >same way a leaf looks green
No, not the same way at all.
            >the structural blue due to interference has nothing to do with rayleigh scattering
Wrong. The keratin structure in the feather scatters light the same way the keratin in blue eyes does.

Because there are no blue roses. They put roses in a bucket with blue liquid dye so the flowers can soak it in and change their colour. They are artificial and the most expensive.
Funny that nobody knows that. Didn’t anybody around here buy flowers for a gf?
