Nutmeg as a Psychedelic

Does it have any use in spiritual practice like shrooms do, or will there just be demons in the corner staring at me?

I wouldn’t recommend it, seems pretty bad for your heart, internal organs (like kidney/livers I think, or at least liver), and brain. IF (and only IF) you have a good experience, it might be something like a good weed high/pot edible high with a lot of dumb pleasure and a stoned mindset, food will be tastier, you’ll be relaxed, etc. (note: this is because it strongly activates the endocannabinoid system just like THC and cannabinoids do). And this is assuming a good reasonable dose (not so high you get sick or start freaking out and have a bad trip). It also has qualities of anticholinergic deliriants (e.g. some of the worst drug trips you can have like from Datura or Benadryl/DPH) and higher doses will give more and more of these anticholinergic deliriant effects. Including delusions and vivid hallucinations often combined with paranoia, painfully dry mouth, dehydration, disorientation, restless leg syndrome, headaches, dizziness, sleepiness, stumbling and slurring words, nausea, etc., some of which are also particularly just from the nutmeg itself and not necessarily from anticholinergic effects, but many are tied to it.

As for “spiritual” effects? I don’t know, but from experience and research I’m inclined to believe more revered psychedelics like psilocybin mushrooms, mescaline/peyote, ayahuasca/DMT, LSD, and more, are more revered for a reason. (They also have the unique shared trait of being a class of drugs called serotonergic psychedelics, known for working on the 5-HT2A or serotonin receptors, while nutmeg is not).

I will start this post by saying I was 15 at the time, that should tell you everything you need to know. I ate like a whole container of this and nothing. Absolutely fricking nothing. Morning glory seeds from walmart will serve you better.

I just dabbed a little on my finger and ate that and I'm already feeling it, it's more like weed but my vision keep distorting at the corners of my eyes

Good, it won’t be that much then. Not trying to urge you to do more.

Possible. Many people have claimed something like this online. It could be people’s different metabolisms or genetics and reactions to such drugs, as well as the nutmeg being old and its psychoactive effects weakened or destroyed (from the volatile oils in it evaporating, supposedly). But it definitely can be potently and clearly psychoactive for some. Not that I’d recommend it. It’s mostly one of those “I’m a broke young bored teenager without access to different better drugs and want to get fricked up, I don’t care how.”

Seconding this, be careful with nutmeg, anons. It can indeed mess up internal organs (including liver), in some cases irreversibly. Not saying it must or will happen, but still. There are better, safer, natural ways of messing the mind up out there.

      wouldn't try it

I think it's because you didn't grind it fresh

Frick you people are dumb. If you spend sone time studying chemistry, you can extract MDMA from nutmeg, but not in its natural form. It may make you dizzy and it is a stimulant, but you aren't hallucinating from egg nog

Wrong on both counts and a hypocrite... lol... MDMA can be SYNTHESIZED from nutmeg.

Myristicin on it's own is also psychedelic.

I had a drug nut friend who'd talk about sassafras and how it's similar to ecstasy but extremely easy to make (extracted from sassafras oil I think)

Nutmeg is a shitty psykedelisc. It only gives us a bad stomach and a dislike for the taste
the next few years to come.
Chewing areca nut or Betel chewing are one of the best stimulates out there. And I am saying this danish guy sitting here in beautiful Copenhagen.
It was the most used stimulant in the world to tobacco tok over.
You need a Betel leaf and what is called a Betel nut - it is not but it is called - the nut does not have to be fresh, many actually prefer them dried. >>Then there must be a small amount of slaked lime, no more than you can wipe off with a little finger. So you took your magazine - available on In most Southeast Asian stores, a little crushed nut is added to it and then the small dash of slaked lime. You can put all sorts of spices in -paan- but start from scratch and you can play around later. When you chew up these 3 add your spear will take on a reddish earthy color. And see active substances will be absorbed into your blood stream. The active substance belongs to the nicotine group but can do more. It is probably the most disgusting habit you can get get you do and split red everywhere. The ritual itself with the blade and the nut is at least as much as old as the use of tobacco in Mesoamerican culture. Check it out it's a must if you want to offer to you old Hindu and Southeast Asian Gods
It is much under described in English and an easily known path to P.HD in several fields of academics.

imagine weed edibles with all of the physical effects and about half the sensory effects with none of the mental effects. that's nutmeg.
that being said, it's interesting enough to try at least once; just make sure you start with whole nutmeg, as with preground. all the important volatiles would have already evaporated off

i tried it, also have experience with other psychs ... to have any effect it feels toxic, like you're not suposed to ingest that much in a tea and feels like you are ingesting bug spray. just feels toxic/ too much. i think the ffect is just a "feelling" of taking too much. Not sure if they add somrthing to it so in larger ammounts it feels like that but it does

I've tried to get high off of it multiple times in my life, and it only ever worked once. And the only thing I did differently that one time was to mix it in yoghurt instead of straight swallowing/parachuting it, but I don't know if that even had anything to do with why it worked.
Although that one time it worked was actually really nice, never felt any delirium like some friends had reported, just felt like a good indica high except it lasted well into the next day too.
