What is the evolutionary advantage to being incompatible with most of the pop?

Anon, most small mutations (evolutions) don't exist because they are an advantage for its owner. They exist because they aren't a disadvantage.

We're the only creatures that give blood. Blood type is irrelevant to survival and sexual reproduction

        It's O-
Many viruses use the machinery of the cell they infect to make part of their outer casing. Thus, a virus that infects an AB+ person will shed viruses with AB+ (the MOST antigenic for everyone else) in their outer coat.

For (individual) survival you want blood that is the MOST incompatible (to receive) with everyone else (O-) also known as "universal donor".
So I would like to thank all you AB+ people (in advance) for your valiant service to humanity, by helping all the O- people not die from a future virus.

You guys don't know anything lmao

I worked in cancer research and studied genetics. This is a good question. Essentially, this blood type always existed, but they just discovered it. Everyone has these little proteins imbedded in the walls of blood cells and other cells. They essentially communicate to your immune system that it's your own cell. Within these markers you have different types like type a or b or you can lack the marker (type O). Rh is a different marker and we have known about many many more, but if a blood transfusion works it works and we just used those 2 since it was "good enough". This is sort of a boring discovery, people have just been arguing about which other blood types to use in medicine and they all just decided on an additional blood type to be used more widespread. It's probably based on research that looked at a more detailed tests of the test given to organ transplant recipients to prevent immune system complications. Actually a great form of proof of these blood types existing is the fact they do a wide variety of immune systems tests before an organ transplant.

So is it the reason organ transplants and such inexplicably fail?
