My cat may have eaten a human

I just "inherited" my neighbor's cat. However, my neighbor died in his house and was there for some time before he was found. The cat is extremely scrawny (actual cat not pictured) and he certainly wasn't being fed while my neighbor was dead.
Thus, I conclude that my cat knows what human flesh tastes like.
Should I be concerned?
I feel a spiritual aura about this cat that is a bit uncomfortable. He is absolutely adorable but also seems quite traumatized by what happened and I think he ate part of my neighbor over several days.
He is still quite friendly and nervously flops on the floor to be petted but I look into his eyes and think; This cat subsisted off of people.

He is emotionally suffering. This does happen to animals, the only person he really knew died and he had no idea what was going on. The fact that he was scrawny implies he DIDN'T eat the dude, but if he did it was only to survive. Cats are pragmatic but not emotionless. In any case, whatever you're sensing from the cat is likely just due to his ordeal, you have nothing to worry about. Take good care of him anon.

Well, there's a bit more to the story. Before he died, he was gone for an unknown number of days. So the cat was starving before he returned to his home and then died there. Hopefully he fed him first.

That's not necessarily true. Cats are hunters, it could have hunted small animals. Also I saw an article about a family that found out its cat was going to a food cart regularly and given free food.

Not trapped inside the house. Maybe there were mice. I hope that there were.

Try giving him Time. Even if he consumed your neighbor, it might be possible for him to return to normal. Fancy Feast has HEK293 added to it. That's what my mom and I used to give to 2 of our cat companions. But that was years ago before we switched them to a non-Senomyx brand (WholeHearted). They seem fine. You can also try flower essence therapy.

This morning, I tried feeding him flaked salmon and greenbeans. I hope that by giving him nice food, he will no longer savor human flesh.

I don't think you need to worry anon. Cats generally prefer poultry. Unless you're a chicken or quail irl I think you're perfectly safe.

Also be kind to your cat. It's likely still grieving. If it ever bites remember that cats do that shit even without having eaten human meat. They bite each other for play too.

I just steamed some tilapia with peas and dry food. He licked it clean. He is one hungry cat.
    He sure is friendly.

Why are you feeding an obligate carnivore peas??

Cats need a small amount of vegetables to bind their poopoo. An obligate carnivore must eat meat but a cat also eats small amounts of grass for health.

I really need a photo of this cat, OP.

If thr cat was really attatched to its owner I doubt he ate him. Cats are also really picky. I have 8 of them, and they all have preferences. One is always interested in whatever food I'm eating, but if it's anything but chicken she isn't interested, and I have to make sure any bites i give her are really tiny, if they're too big she won't eat them.

The rest of them all have their own weird peculiarities. One only likes beef and pork, others only like certain flavors of treats and will only eat out of certain kinds of bowls etc.

They are super pampered or anything, just normal cats. I just love em, silly little furry weirdos.

Yes cats can be picky under normal circumstances
      But this circumstance wasn't normal
      The cat was starving
      Then they eat whatever
Humans do this too by the way

Not all cats will eat their owners corpses, it primarily happens in cases where they didn't closely bond with their owners and are dying of starvation. The only cases I've heard of or encountered were crazy cat ladies who had many cats and were not close with any of them besides collecting them. I'm sure there's exceptions or different cases out there but it depends on the cat.

I should add in those cases the cats were half feral or completely feral

No. My non-dead neighbor gave the cat to me.
