Modern philosophy

What happened to philosophy? Why isn't it as popular and as prevalent as it was in the past? Was philosophy just dumb and unnecessary self spam? Be honest

science mostly, people think objective answers are the end all be all. Likewise western medicine sees everything as able to diagnose and potentially treat/cure. The industrial revolution really fricked humanity, the values promoted became about productivity and unlimited growth instead of working in tandem with nature and pondering the mysteries of life. For all its tools science can't even really define time or consciousness. Any philosophy has been either replaced by politics or geared towards serving the masses, and the industrial leviathan is too big and omnipresent for people to even consider living without it-most couldn't

Philosophy still exists. It's just shit. The world wars mindfricked most thinkers and made them nihilstic or lacking belief in any principles or worldview that would point forward. It even rubbed off on the victors (US, UK) after awhile. They were doing OK through the 50s, but their academics were homosexuals and insisted on making everyone feel bad anyways. Especially for colonialism.

Don't u think there's a limit to how many philosophy's that make sense and help the user exist? I feel like it might have reached a exponential point to where it's reached its peak in innovation on ways to live since we live in peaceful times

Actually we live in peaceful times because of a brutal philosophical doctrine known as mutually assured destruction

      >The world wars mindfricked most thinkers and made them nihilstic or lacking belief in any principles or worldview that would point forward.
The World Wars were intentional mass sacrifices to bring about the New World Order they so desperately desire.
Can you really blame them? Imagine all the bloodshed and carnage, an entire generation put to the meatgrinder, all the wasted blood and treasure, all the shattered hopes and dreams.
How can you even begin to talk about valor, about nation, about people, about the future?
See this is what the illuminists don't understand through their actions they have sowed the seeds of their own defeat. After all the bloodshed, corruption, and lies, after they hanged all the prophets and dreamers high, do they really believe anybody is going to willingly go along with them? Do they really believe anyone will try?
They could do another 9/11, another Pearl Harbor, a million times over and declare WW3 but nobody cares. /misc/ screeches about family and traditions, the left screeches about the oppressshuns and gibs. What's the point?
Love is just a fantasy but make sure you have as many kids as you can. Sure pal.
The pandemic was what really gave it away. They could declare a draft and the zoomers will willingly lay down and die.

Then we can all go home.

Philosophy is useful in determining truth, ala following logic. It's a supplementary tool, but I don't think rich old men (like the greeks) arguing philosophy is useful in modern society as a consistent labor (I'd like to remind you of the vast amount of labor that is required to turn the military-industrial gears). We argue philosophy all the time, online, it's basically the national hobby.

Discounting the Socratic method would be a disservice, so I feel it's necessary to mention that.

That said. Plenty still study philosophy and you can get a degree in it, so it's not dead.

We are surrounded by philosophy, but a corrupted materialistic and dogmatic one that does not even recognise that it is philosophy itself. Everything is founded on philosophy.
Plato looked for truth by accessing the realm of divine intellect and synthesising what came before. Aristotle wasn't in opposition to Plato, that is a lie told to you by unread tools. Aristotle was more interested in methodology, logic, rationality, theory of categories and so on but in no way was he an anti-platonist. Their philosophy was of the spirit, it was not "dumb and unnecessary spam".
Wrote this to remind you that popular philosophy is a lie most often regurgitated by those in a materialistic paradigm who find Russel's work in philosophy profound which it is not, but his math is good. Stuff like "school of life" is quite toxic too and shares bullshit.
Philosophy developed into a giant monster of words and true metaphysics was forgotten.
IDK anon, considering your question you start with the Greeks, you can check out Guenon, Wittgenstein and Heidegger too or anything you want if you really want to get this.

Look up the average iq for every college diploma and find that philosophy scores as high as physics, cs, math and engineering.

Modern philosophy isn't even philosophy. Its an abomination. True philosophy is supposed to bring us into closer union with the divine.

It is, just a bit more technically dense there are even metaphysicans doing old school systematic work like D. M Armstrong. People are going into real Asian philosophy as well like Jay Garfield's Living Without A Self. There is actual Christian philosophy like Richard Swineburn and even attempts to rebound pagan philosophy like Steven Dillon's The Case for Polytheism. Even old school atheistic materialism has actually good philosophy like James Ladyman or Roger Penrose's view of mathematical realism.

philosophy is dumb. when assessing reality and trying to figure out how things are, you need to use a balance of thinking AND feeling. philosophy overthinks things and neglects intuiting, feeling stuff out, and actually doing things in physicality. philosophizing is ultimately a practice that distorts the balance between thinking, feeling and action

"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ" - Colossians 2:8 KJV

OG rationalism, moving from one idea to another clear distinct idea like Descartes is pretty dead.

Some like Michael P. Levine are trying to make arguments for that in the line of Spinoza.

Philosophy is for people who want to think outside the box. Nowadays nearly everyone is in a group with a fixed dogma, christians, academics with their marxism, muslims, pagans, gnostics, Luciferians etc. No one wants to realy think any more.
