the unscrupulous interpretation is just a small part of the etymology.

Power over others is always used to promote evil. Simple as.

If I work with you in a team I trust my leaders to support the cause and I will hold them accountable. The real problem is that human cooperation instinct does not scale well to very large groups. That's why we have to average and delegate responsibility.

The word Sudarshana is derived from two Sanskrit words – Su (सु) meaning "good/auspicious" and Darshana (दर्शन) meaning "vision". In the Monier-Williams dictionary the word Chakra is derived from the root क्रम्(kram) or ऋत् (rt) or क्रि (kri) and refers among many meanings, to the wheel of a carriage, wheel of the sun's chariot or metaphorically to the wheel of time.[4][5] In Tamil, the Sudarshana Chakra is also known as Chakratalvar (disc-ruler).[6]

The manipura chakra is often blocked by negative emotions and lack of self-confidence, which can lead to digestive disorders and low self-esteem.

    >Why do people insist the power over others is a bad thing
    It's all about context.
A policeman with a gun has power over others, but so does a robber with a gun.
An engineer has a lot of power in his designs, but he can only really exercise that power to destroy through negligence.

Shit do whatever the frick you want. But I would say that power over others is a bad thing because it is a self defeating prophecy. You would only percieve such a philosophy as a good idea if it benefits you so if you follow the train of logic to its conclusion ultimately it would be presumed that there are certain scenarios where you would reject or be against such a philosophy. Therefore your quest for power is ultimately hypocritical so it's more of a protective bubble for your ego than a legitimate philosophy because it only benefits one person rather than everyone because if your were the victim of such an idea would you not disagree with it?

If you can't fairly convince someone to do the thing you want them to do then that's a skill issue. That, or the thing you're after is evil and stupid and you can only convince total idiots or manipulate the unawakened into "consenting".

Also, it's unimpressive to be able to manipulate someone using your chakra - any awakened or even partially-awakened person can do that to a sleeping soul. Like yeah I can use my conqueror's haki too - doesn't mean I want to. It's much better - morally and mentally - and less taxing on the spirit to just convince people of your side using neuro-linguistic-programming. Especially if you know what you're doing is morally just, then you don't have to manipulate most people's chakras in the first place. It's a bit weird lol.

      >any awakened or even partially-awakened person can do that to a sleeping soul
one could even argue there's no point in trying to do that to a sleeping one, because who walks and grows by day worries about the night?

Exactly. The person who made this post has clearly not even truly begun their journey. Any awakened person would detest the idea of forcing people to do anything against their will, especially if it's against their own interests or the interests of those they care about.

I used to fantasize about having such a power over people when I was a kid - and then one day I realized that I've always had this power and was unconsciously using it to get people the way I "expected" them to treat me - with suspicion and fear. When I became fully cognizant of my ability to manipulate the feelings and thoughts of those around me, I grew to hate how easily I could influence people without even trying. Now I just use this power to influence people with positive thoughts and affirmations, and to give them the desire - but never compelling - them to act generously and compassionately, to treat others with grace.

I dunno, I just think if you need to manipulate someone it's because what you were after is something not great. Or you need to work on your communications skills so no chakra manipulation is needed.

          >I used to fantasize about having such a power over people when I was a kid
Yeah such ideas and feelings can come from a variety of sources. I imagine someone who's felt threatened might unconsciously dream of a position of power to flee away from that position of inferiority. I also imagine some highs of power can feel emotionally compelling, like when your animal brain activates and you feel that rush.
          >I dunno, I just think if you need to manipulate someone it's because what you were after is something not great. Or you need to work on your communications skills so no chakra manipulation is needed.
that is a very sound way to look at it. People are social and herd animals. They have certain patterns that people can pick up on and manipulate. One can argue what real power is and whether it is self-mastery or the ability to make people do things. I think you need a bit of both in the world. People who get people to elevate themselves and seek their own inner power are rare but worthwhile. It's always easy to work with people who like you. It's hard to negotiate and talk with folk that are strange or alien to you. It's way harder to reach end-results with disagreeable people than when you're preaching to the choir.

    >Why do people insist the power over others is a bad thing
As someone born with an over active solar plexus I can answer this. Power over others easily manifests bad karma. Without balance in your understanding and actions you hurt others and yourself even more so. Why do people insist guns are a bad thing? It's much the same.
