MAID

I am terrified of medically assisted suicide. And just to clarify, I am not suicidal. I am just scared of the idea of being stuck in a medical institution and being unable to leave
>either tragic illness, stroke, car accident... what ever
Just the idea that it's okay for an institution to push documents on to someone asking them for permission to 'end' them is the epitome of horror to me. I remember watching 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark' and the episode in the hospital always scared me the most. Just the idea of an institution dedicated to health and recovery, could be a nexus for death and suffering. It gives me chills.
Just imagine you're stuck in a hospital room, for no fault of your own and it's nothing you can change without help. You're being gradually drugged more and more. The nurses are becoming more and more abusive with time. The abuse eventually even turns to neglect and all you want is to get out of this terrible place. But you can't afford it, this accident cost you everything.
All of the sudden you're visited by someone who seems to want to help you. They explain something to you but you're so dazed by the drugs and all you take notice of is that this person seemingly wants to help you, so you agree. You make your signature on a document and you're told to put your head down. It's finally over, you're getting the help you need...

Medically assisted suicide cannot be easily signed and has to go through several rounds, including a psychiatric check. If you're at any point deemed mentally incompetent or impaired, they won't do it. They're not going to risk their medical license to kill you. You're not going to accidently sign suicide documents.

Even a Do Not Resuscitate is a legal document that you need to speak with a lawyer about, or a family member has to in the event you're impaired and legally custodianshiped. If you suddenly has a heart attack and your wife screamed you had a DNR, unless she can produce the paperwork on the spot, they're going to attempt to resuscitate you.

The only way people are easily killing themselves in a medical environment without all that is if they refuse medical treatment. In this case, they'll still do a psychiatric check, but if you're deemed competent, they'll let you refuse care until you die or are unconscious. Stop scaring yourself with moronic fantasies.

Canadian here, that is NOT how it works. Your sober, lucid, written and REPEATED consent is required by law in order to proceed.

Neither of those cases violate patient consent. The first case is definitely a scandal bordering on harassment, but no use of force or death was involved. Second case is far too new to know all the details, and we likely never will since that autistic woman doesn't seem to want to talk to the press. Either way, I'm not sure what's got you feeling so wienery, neither of those patients were killed without consent. Show me some bodies if you want my mind changed.

Yea imagine if you were Nixon you didn't push forward the cancer act because there wasn't sufficient evidence it would make any impact.
          >He did it anyways
And his brother later survives a tragic diagnosis with chemotherapy treatment and medications that were strengthened by the cancer act.
You would not have passed it and your brother would be dead. Good job.

There are 'compassionate care' protocols that get around complicated MAiD and DnR paperwork. If the the person in question is unable to communicate and doesn't have a good prognosis, they will offer to take the person off any life support and give them morphine and benzos until they expire. Next of kin just has to sign on the dotted line. If the person doesn't have insurance and have been taking up a bed for a while, they may nudge this process along with more comfort meds:.(like someone on a ventilator for a number of days *wink*) Despite hospitals being regulated environments, there's still grey area scenarios that can be exploited in service of the hospitals efficient operation and profitability.

You know how easily paperwork can be "overlooked" or a "doctors word" can be lost along the game of telephone. You're a disgusting sack of shit and I hope that nothing good comes to you. It's not like they're going to do this every chance they get, but for people that the government labels as genuine threats, they're in zero way going to get the intended medical package.

No I'm just saying that this will happen to people who otherwise would have made a full recovery if there weren't inventive to just kill people instead of facilitate their recovery.

You are dumb as hell, a hospital is riddled with death and disease of course people die there. Not everyone who goes to the hospital gets “health and recovery” as you outline the hospital to be. You go to a hospital there are two options: you recover and live or you deteriorate and die. You are a dumb stupid idiot.

I have just the perfect video for this, it's a 5 minute horror film, inspired by real events. Your fear is not unfounded but don't let it control your life.

    Twisted criminal underground
    Subjugation of the victim
    For complete control
    Reaping vital body parts
    Surgical precision taking
    All that will be sold

Sliced wide open, right down the chest
    Removal of the organs
    Cut the arteries and veins
    Everything must go
    Before the victim dies
    Burn the body to dispose
    Callous acts of the nefarious
    Leaving no tracks, no evidence
They vanish never to be seen again
    Banished from existence

Have you not heard of serial killer nurses? They're a thing. Not to mention the greater portion of big pharma is designed to treat the symptoms and not the cause of the illness. You're worth much more to them sick and in need of treatment rather than healthy. Better cast out any delusion that hospitals are meant to help you get well. Greed and corruption have the reigns of our society, anon.
