LARP = Lazy (LARPing discussion)

There is no such thing as an effort-posting LARP, it does not exist.

Most LARPs come into existence because many individuals are unwilling to sit down and study the extremely vast amount of information there is on whatever subject that they have chosen to LARP about. I'm not trying to discourage individuals, however I'd like to explain what I learned after leaving one of the larger groups of LARPers (evangelical esoteric Christianity), and how the same shortcomings always seem to arise in whatever LARP community I observe. (I wonder how many time I can say LARP in this post).

Almost all LARPs arise due to communication issues. That's about it. I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that being monolingual is one of the LARGEST handicaps in studying the occult in any meaningful way. Many larps come about due to mistranslation or purposeful obfuscation of language specific information. Greek for example has ~5,000,000 words, English has ~1,000,000 words. There will be meanings which cannot be understood by individuals who cannot speak those languages in their proper context, and certain groups of individuals have used this knowledge to conveniently translate many ancient texts. I have yet to learn Greek, so I am unwilling to give 2nd hand examples, however I have seen enough evidence to understand that this is most likely correct. Many individuals will use an appeal to authority fallacy to justify LARPing instead of going and doing their own research on the subject. Their books or holy men or whoever they look up to is the end all be all.

The 2nd form which most of us are already familiar with is the brain-dead/schizo larps. People who are so lazy so as to be unwilling to provide any real sources which are not based off of 2nd or X hand information, or simply make shit up on the spot, especially around subjects which have already been covered in detail by other authors.

LARPers wasted my time, years of my time. Please, dont let them waste yours.

I figured all were just lying or shitposting if they were "LARPing" per se. You're telling me it's more complex than that?

Most LARPS are started by people who are too lazy to see past their appeal to authority complex or who think that by doing extremely basic shit they are able to get meaningful tangible results. Only in the modern day do you have groups of esoterisists who claim that you're able to acquire all of the necessary spiritual knowledge from one or a small handful of books. You go back and look at what the people who were writing those books were studying and the languages they spoke and the books they were reading and things get very wild very quickly. LARPers have no motivation to study this shit seriously, and as such they are at best hobbyists, at worst directly attempting to get people to buy into their nonsense.

One particular psychopath tried to use their perceived authority in the way you described. She assumed I was an easy mark even though I was twice her age. It's unfortunate how kids these days lack the self awareness to understand they're actually moronic and can't con a person to save their life.

This tracks. I have noticed LARPing spirituality is all based around like one simple technique, one breathing exercise, etc. One guy will simplify an idea, and then a whole cadre of LARPers will make up shit about this simplification, giving it a false history even, without even knowing it came out of a larger/older tradition.

Its all a distraction from the clear and obvious fact that if you want anything meaningful in life you have to work for it. Individuals will tell you that because you have to strive and work for things that this alone proves that we're being controlled or dominated by some otherworldly force, despite the meaning of the experience often times being in the process, not the conclusion.

Most individuals who end up studying occult philosophy do so for extremely mundane reasons. They use it as a coping mechanism in order to make their life more bearable or to make them feel special. I have gotten to a point where I can roughly guess what esoteric practice someone is into by their personality.

What's the point of larping about Greek... or anything academic? I just want to hear of experiences. Big or small. Just please don't lie.

The entire western world has been controlled by Christianity for the last 1000+ years. Almost all of the bible that we have came from Greek documents, some parts of the bible were originally written in Greek. If you have a control over how one language is translated into another language, you're able to control the narrative, especially when that narrative is already common and in control of everything else.

The bible is for average and adept people alike. There's more to Christianity than that.

If you're not reading the original Greek its going to be missing a ton of its meaning, and I dont just mean the "authorized" Greek interpretation. There are probably only a very small handful of individuals who are able to properly read the bible because of the vast complexity of the language structure and layers of meaning which are unable to be translated into English. Even if you have an encyclopedic understanding of the English bible, you will still be missing a lot of detail, at least this is what I have come to.

I understand that. It's very important, if that's your field. But one with encyclopedic knowledge in either Greek or English (or Hebrew with the OT) isn't necessarily going to reach what Christ was pointing to just with reading. Christ himself didn't even write anything: He left actions. Baptism and the Eucharist. Which shows his priority.
Besides that, the most profound writer of the NT was practically the equivalent of Broken English - the writer of the Gospel and Epistles of John. It's often given to first year students of Greek, since it's so basic. But that simple approach can get one far.

firstly, everyone is larping all the time, you and the effort you put into this thread included.
    >Many individuals will use an appeal to authority fallacy to justify LARPing instead of going and doing their own research on the subject.
secondly, what could an individual from a culture with 1m ever study that would summate and encapsulate the cultural works of a society with 5m terms now dead?

I am not role playing, I am explaining things I learned after being duped for years only to realize that I put dozens of hours into studying things which I found out were almost entirely fake. Greek has been kept alive through numerous authors up until the present day. Your second question does not really make sense, as the clear solution would be to study the language and then study the contemporary sources of whatever subject you're trying to look into.

It's only a LARP when the person doing it knows/believes that it's not real. That's the "role play" factor of it. A guy in a dress who actually believes that he's a girl is not larping.
