Is the Internet Alive? Or Dead? Or Both?

I'll present a couple videos where the concept is put out there that The Internet is a sentient entity in some way and has an awareness and agency of it's own.

I'll also provide a video where the case has been made that the Internet is in fact dead or devoid of human interaction for the majority of it's presented activity.

What does /x/ think? How "alive" is the Internet (in various ways)?

The internet isn't alive. But it *is* awake.
    Hope that helps.

If the internet is dead, then so real life would metaphorically also be considered dead.
The internet of our age is interconnected with events and aftermath events of real life.
Therefore if the internet is dead, this dread reflects the atmosphere of the real world.
What is the definition of alive? If real life is dead, then what is truly alive?
Do you feel alive when you get into the mental world of the internet? Or the sensational world of materialism?

Real like is effectively the same as the internet. In the sense that most of everything is automated non sense or controlled by bots. Everything from the way people talk, walk, act and dress is basically dictated by the internet in some way shape or form. People talk about how everyone has "their own unique personality" but this is the furthest from the truth with normies. I believe in a lot of things that most people would think is absolutely wack-a-doodle crazy. But i'm almost for certain the internet and reality are connected in some way. Almost everything about our world changed when the internet came, and at a rapid pace. I think people who actually use the internet for more than just going on social media, and truly use it are somehow different from everyone else. Because every single person ive ever met in my entire life that was a cookie cutter copy and paste from everyone else, uses the internet extensively. I think that in someway, it has to be connected to human consciousness. A global human consciousness. and this is why ~~*they*~~ have lobotomized the internet. This is why bots rule supreme. And why centralization happened to rapidly. God has made such a powerful tool, and gave us the ability to discover it for a reason. What that reason is, or why the powers that be are so hell bent on ruining it, i couldnt tell you. One thing for certain, most of the web, atleast on its surface is dead. The majority of the people you interact with are bots. And im starting to think its the same in games and voIP interactions, as everyone has the same kind of voice, just pitched up or down, they say the same shit, in the same way, and have the same reactions.

imo its like tf2. real people exist on it, but theres a LOT more bots, to the point the bots have almost driven the people out. look at every popular twitter post. sure, if you scroll far enough there's real people, but 80-90% of it is FREE ONLYFANS and LINK IN BIO shit. most large accounts are reposting things a million times. the amount of times ive seen "this 97 year old diner still serves coke the old fashioned way!" makes me want to vomit. think of the last time you looked up a problem you had. every time i look something up, i have to add "reddit" on the end of it to get past the million ai written articles selling me shit or farming clicks.

It gets worse than just the onlyfans shit. A massive chunk of what appears to be real users, are bots that are made to just control the converations and dictate E-Culture. This is why modern internet culture is pure slop, and if you just stop paying attention for only a week you will be totally out of touch due to the speed that new internet fads are phased out by new ones.

its so fricked. the internet isnt "dead", but its a rotting corpse being dragged around by the handful of real people.

as for the internet being its own entity, i think a lot about another tf2 experience i had. a server full of bots and with only 2 humans (me and someone else) kicked both of us out, presumably to be replaced by bots. just 12 snipers aimbotting into the abyss forever. i think it could be something like that, especially with the rate ai is going. if two ai chatbots talk to eachother forever, they'll "learn" from eachother. they might go in circles without actual human interaction, but they could also develop something akin to their own thoughts.

Chat bots have been around for ages, its only becoming mainstream news because some gay company went public with it all. This site is 100% a victim of chatbots for years now. as is every website. Like go to youtube, click a random video. All of the coments will be people saying the exact same shit over and over again. Some of them, will have very obviously bot accounts. Like default pfp, a year old or less, and say technically grammatically correct things but is a bizarre way. Especially on political shit. And when me and others say they internet is its own entity, its less of the internet being sentient, and more of the internet being more than just a network. Atleast when ever i say it i mean it in that way. Truly sad, and honestly immoral what has been done to it. It had, and still has so much potential but its being totally shot down by the centralization of botification of the web. The only place you can find any semblance of the way it used to be is browsing on onion sites with TOR, since its not centralized. But one day that too will be a centralized hellscape, and people like us will have no where to go. Normies and bots will invade literally every corner of the web, making it impossible to just enjoy things.

    Dying
The majority of accounts across all known websites are bots.
And best yet, the web admins have no incentive to stop this.
The web will die to the inaction of website administrators

It was never alive, thus cannot be "dead". It's simply been largely centralized and corpo-consolidated into censored and thought-policed shit holes that deliver top-down astroturfed narratives and mandate uniform content, destroying free expression and true creativity, which is why it feels so barren compared to the open internet of the past.

I feel like the internet in a lot of ways represents the tower of babel.
It allows for so many people from across the globe to work together AND BE CONTROLLED.
The consolidation of power around it is immense.
Any merciful god should have fired off an EMP toward the earth by now.
Instead we are here with our virtual tower and filling it with clockwork demons of our own design as agents of the prostitute of Babalon wreck havoc on civilization.

All while people keep entertaining the idea of using AI for wargames and it going exactly how everyone imagines it goes.

Of course its both. Some people need to be there for it to even make any sense. No one will profit from ads shown to bots. No AI will learn shit from other AI. You probably often mistake bots for humans, but also humans for bots because they can be so goddamn boring and predictable on social media.

The internet is a digital country instead of an entity. The countryside is untouched and human while the monetised metropolitan areas (twitter, tiktok, facebook, youtube) are where people aggregate and all the scummy stuff happens. If you can make money through any means, there will always be bots and other nonsense. High-traffic sites flooded with an ocean of clickbait junk, redundant articles, stolen and recycled media, and pop-up stands with people shilling shit. There are also agencies using bots to influence public opinions. Soon most content will be automatically generated since the internet is just a fake place to shit into for most people. The internet is a decaying corpse because it's a 1:1 recreation of real life

  30. 2 months ago

    Mostly dead.
In the early days of the internet, every website that existed existed because it was deliberately made to serve a purpose and have a userbase. The number of people on them might have been dispersed, but they still existed. Today, easily 98% of content on the internet is bot-generated. There's billions of websites with no one user. Blogging was big back in 2003-2008 era, and now 99% of blogs are scripted by bots for the purposes of gathering ad revenue.

The reason places like EerieWeb stay active for over a decade is because this place hasn't been botted to death (yet). But the admins routinely have to add new security and captcha services because it absolutely would be if they didn't.
