Time perception works entirely differently in hell, you can experience what feels like eternity in nothing more than a second. Hell isn't the only place that applies to, but messing with your perception of time is one of the main tactics to cause you maximum distress there.

According to Buddhist belief, no. There are unorganized hell realms, at least 8 hot ones and 8 cold ones, within samsara. Bear in mind that where one reincarnates to is dictated by their karma such that their soul gets attracted to limbic systems most attuned to the regimen of skillfulness they persisted in previously- it is a misconception that there is any external force for punishment or reward in karma.

You might want to check out the ghost realm video too.

What would "eternal" mean in the context of no time and space, I can't tell, but the adjective is there consistently (the eternal damnation), so it has a meaning.

It's not a spiritualprison, as viewed in Western spiritual traditions, to which the higher force puts you against your will. Rather, the hell is basically viewed as - you leave the body, and you immediatelyare aware of God's omnipresence, but for you, that omnipresence is felt like a damnation. That's hell in a nutshell.

Biblical hell isnt eternal, however before you may enter heaven your soul must be purged of sin, thats where hell comes in. Yes everyone will get into heaven, even Winston Churchill.

The essence of freedom isn't the number of choices you can make. It's being mentally capable of leaving a cage when the door is open. Animals that are kept in cages too long, or are abused, often struggle to do this. So it is with Hell. But death is not always the end because some people choose to spend time serving the despondent in Hell as their pennance. To such people Hell becomes Purgatory, where Hope has not died. Ultimately ascension is where you are, and if you can't make peace with God being with you even when you suffer, then everywhere will be Hell. See the Ferrymen of Ultrakill, and how they are among the few being who still understand Hell's noble purpose. They would not step foot in Ultrakill's Heaven, not because they are damned, but because that Heaven turned its back on God and also became Hell. They can only serve God where they are, and that protects them from the cage.

no, its metaphor for perpetual reincarnation into this place.

the suffering of this plane is the suffering of being blue balled.
whatever you do, you will at best only achieve 99.99% satisfaction, never 100%

it is suffering beyond your imagination. life is unfulfilling. even if your wildest dreams came true, you would suffer. this is hell.

and there is a way out of it, it is nirvana - or cessation. the stopping of "isness", the putting out of the "fire" so that you no longer incarnate and the game of "being" is over.

or as the abrahamic tradition says "those who overcome i will make a pillar in my temple and >>they shall go out no more<<"

The poet Virgil described the afterlife as having a portion where your earthliness and sin is "burned off" like filth from a bronze statue. But, being non-corporeal, it doesn't "hurt", considering that you need a body to feel pain.

    the "torture" is a lesson
i.e if your soul is sadistic you have to experience being the victim of sadism

or maybe i'm talking out my arse

      Anonymous

the lesson of this realm is probably indifference, selfishness, ignorance, lack of empathy etc. God ignores this realm, we have to experience lack of care as our souls are selfish

we probably have to discover and follow the "laws" of this world and abide by them and in turn change our souls to become less self-centered and juvenile

        Anonymous

but if your soul actually doubles down and becomes more sadistic and violent, you probably get sent to a worse place for a harsher punishment, if you don't repent

Hell is a cosmic furnace that destroys souls that have not received eternal life. It wouldn't be a "second death" if you survived it, and you could not receive eternal life if your soul was already immortal. Damnation is only forever in the sense that it is permanent, like the death penalty.

The concept of eternal suffering bothers the frick out of me. And I know it's like "well no fricking shit, moron," but I simply don't see it in others. It gets used so casually by religious people and the AI community (really one and the same anymore) that I can't imagine it bothering them on a visceral level. I think they have some almost metaphysical religious detachment to the concept, like "yeah but that can't happen because reasons."
Holy and mighty "reasons" will always protect them.

Even if it is highly unlikely, the smallest likelihood is absolutely terrible. The worst thing imaginable. I can never love existence for this reason alone. In a reality where this is possible, no matter how improbable, you have to be truly hollow to not be bothered, and those who would inflict it on others no matter the crime, these are true satans.

That's what the Xtian claims to put the Feat of their God in you. Christcucks constantly live in Fear that one forgotten "sin" will send them there, and they have no security at all. this. its spirit place, anon is correct.
no one gets out of hell
yes its eternal separation from god source.

    yes it lasts forever.
basically your a npc once it happens.
your know when the little voice in your head stops or the static in your head ceases
and when you feel suicidal day and night.
but for some reason cannot die.
    constantly getting invaded and abused.
thjey bring max pain and destruction but prevent you from dying. you will see daemons in their real form and lizards with them, you will see canniablism of people alive
you will see people been torn apart but still alive
    you see horrors without words
    you will feel pain
you wil hear everyone screen from the very young to the very old anicent voices
and if your lucky your see a chained up fallen angel they will be in great pain.

no, its a place of sorrow, pain, suffering and fear overwhelming
and emotions so intense of the exteme negitives.

no having just come from hell.
no, you never want to be there ever.
    even if they paid you.

but souls end up in there.
there are billions of souls falling into it daily it never ends.
no you never get used to it.
even daemons hate it, it tormets us as well.
but each deals with it in their own way.

hell is probably where the mass of all the negativity in the universe collects. every evil experience that has ever occurred or every bit of rage disgust hatred perversion and unforgivness that has and will be felt flows through you in the form of an immense heat that your spirit interprets as burning fire. Your own spiritual negativity draws you to it and once you're stuck you're really stuck unless you can somehow overcome the entirety of all evil in the universe. Not likely.

demons are probably beings that existed in that realm for too long and just gave into it and became perverse entities that get off on the suffering and loathing. maybe a lot of them have reptilian features because aliens that existed long before us fell into that realm and were there for millions of years before us. I'm sure some schizo could spin it that way.

God might be really strict about having no residual negativity inside of you at death and accepting him because it's dangerous otherwise. he's not punishing you it's just hell is an unavoidable part of the spiritual realm and if you deny him he can't protect you when you're in real danger.

    >but muh omnipotence wheres the mercy
don't ask me man, we can probably bark up that tree all day but something something free will our fault

Hell can't be eternal as anything finite can't result in something infinite. Also hell being a thing considering the limitations of human bodies goes to indicate that eitger it is a projection of our minds through programming or a false realm created by parasites.

Whatever hell is, I've reached the conclusion that it's probably rational, and maybe the only way things can be. I see a glimpse of hell when a degenerate goblin of a person refuses to change their ways despite how miserable they clearly are. Maybe hell is just precisely what souls choose for themselves.

Nobody would choose their own terrible path if they were shown the light of true goodness.
This idea that people "choose" the suffering is not very convincing. People are just misinformed, nobody sane would deliberately choose their own path of suffering and anguish. It makes no sense.

        Anonymous

People choose paths they know are wrong every day of their lives. Many people know they'll die early from their vices yet they never stop. If the ultimate test is whether a soul chooses the righteous path ON THEIR OWN, without a deus ex machina "light of true goodness" dragging them to salvation, then perhaps not in ten thousand lifetimes will that soul choose to ascend from their pit of sins.

No. Pushing the idea of Eternal Conscious Torture was a deal that the earthly church made with the forces of Empire to gain acceptance since it made them more useful for propaganda and fundraising.

There's a better story to be in, but it starts with learning enough Greek to know when you're being bullshitted by a translation with a not-so-hidden agenda.

Give me one example of any other religion who claims their god or gods will torture their own creation for eternity, for the sin of disobedience.
