I have a brother who was really proud of himself for getting through Seminary and becoming a Catholic Priest who had a visceral reaction when others at the family dinner table didn't immediately start sucking his dick. Like, sorry your parents and brothers aren't about to start calling you "Father", guy - none of us are even Catholic and you certainly weren't raised that way so taking so much offense now just reveals the only reason you're converting to begin with is for the clout. My brother singlehandedly turned me off from Christianity with his constant need for approval for becoming a priest which is why, if it turns out to be the "true faith", I'm blaming him when I reach the gates of Hell.

Has anyone else had their religious perspectives changed on account of a family member? How'd that go?

If you don't call out his bs face-to-face, you ARE the problem. 90% of histerical behaviour would end if their inner circle were honest enough to just tell them how pathetic they sound. I made that number up but you get the point.

Trust me, we definitely gave him shit about insisting we call him "Father" and since he's stormed off and let each of us know separately that we're "all going to Hell unless we repent and apologize to him." Fricker thinks HE'S the Vicar of Christ now apparently for going to Seminary.

If you are all offended and still talk to him, it's still wrong. But who am I to judge, eh. Good night, anon.

You're saying we should all cut him off entirely? That seems like a bit of an overreaction even if he is being incredibly annoying about this.

I was forcibly indoctrinated having to go to catholic school for 12 years and mass every week. I’m still indoctrinated for the most part but if there really is a heaven I hope my “religious” parents either are able to change their ways up there or I don’t want to go there.

How hard is it for someone to come home from seminary school and act entitled?
      I hope you get crucified.

Could be that too. In which case, it's bizarre and pathetically needy.

It did happen and it's not off topic because religion is an innately paranormal subject

OP is definitely just a Christian and there's nothing you or he or anybody can do about it but be too stupid to realize it reading the book it's going to be okay everything is going exactly as planned that book is completely insane and defeats itself intentionally and with awareness. It's Eldritch, it's almost beyond words.

Don't you think you'll ask Jesus Christ for forgiveness when you have the time? He's clearly not around right. He's Clearly not around it's all a big fricking game people probably sat in a cave for thirty years discussing with all of the paper in the world.

You can't tell somebody they aren't a Christian there are so many fail-safes.

Unless you're really schizo that book is just a jumbled mess full of hate and and nonsense bullshit.
I remember having to read that shit for theology class in grade school (among the other major religions) and I just couldn't fathom how anyone could think any of it was real.

this is actually a valid expiation for rejecting the truth (which certainly isn't catholicism).

Why come here of all places to talk shit about your own family? Regardless of any religious bullshit, you sound worse than him.
One of these days it's just going to be you and him when you're folks are gone. None of the freaks here will ever give a shit about you. Including me tbh.
