How can I learn to sense chi or prana in my own body?

What is required to be able to sense chi? What are some exercises I could do to be more sensitive to it?

Mostly just a change of your mental focus. We tend to go through life thinking we are solid, like the stuff we see in medical text books. So just take a moment to sit with your eyes closed and first of all consider that the body of chi exists. There are different aspects to it, but for the purposes of this exercise assume it's roughly occupying the same shape and space as your physical body.

Chi is like a fluid when we compare it to our physical body. So let your attention drop from your physical body, into the idea that you are a body of fluid.

Try this every day for a week. Don't spend longer than 5 minutes each time, and don't force anything. Pay attention to the words I used. Let your attention drop from the physical body into the idea that you are a body of fluid.

    Report back here sometime.

Prepare to get a bunch of meditative type exercises thrown at you, and then to be gaslighted with "maybe you didn't do it right" or "meditate for 5 years and it will start working" when you say you feel nothing.

I'm sorry, the probability of you getting any real clear cut effective and quick methods on an online forum (especially EerieWeb) is very low.

I'll say one thing though, this guy
actually gave you a time period of the exercise (5 minutes) and a deadline for getting a result (1 week), which is something I usually don't see. So maybe it actually works and you got lucky on your first response.

Make sure to try it, but I'm not going to bother. I'm tired of trial and error with things like this.

If it works for you create another thread with the same image you used in this one, maybe I'll spot it and have my faith renewed.

      Good luck.

I've been around for a while and have run across a lot of new age "experts" that are obviously bullshit artists. They won't tell you to do a simple thing like "follow your goosebumps" or "stop jerking off" because those things *are* so simple and also require some outside work. Most of these people are following fads and trying to give people an emotional experience in a group group setting so that people feel they got something out of the $300 cost.

            >burn candle at both ends and die 20 years early

this is wrong. because this sensation naturally arises when one is spiritually euphoric, its just that no meaning is attached to it due to ignorance.

if what you said was wrong, the saintly people would all naturally die early, yet the live the longest, if they are not persecuted and murdered viciously!
so even though the "burn candle at both ends", they live longer than the avg joe

so the information you have there, is faulty!

I never said that. I was asking for advice on how to feel chi. That's all. It's funny that you want to step in and be the expert on a EerieWeb thread since you said there are no experts here. I guess you were excluding yourself.

Here's a simple exercise: sit in a chair in a straight posture have your hands rest and once you start breathing in, your hands move up moving from the elbow and once you breathe out you turn around the palms using your wrists and push them down using intention, not forcefully.

BREATHE CALMLY through the nose. Calm breathing as in, do not hear the breathing, your arms should reach chest height before your breath stops and starts to change direction, this is the simplest "QiGong" (breath work/skill) exercise.

      trace your goosebumps.
hint: though not dependent, they are tied ro your breath

there is a subtler variant of it - its the pressure of your focus. if you focus on a certain body part, that body part will be highlighted in terms of sensations.
if you stay on that body part, a strong pressure will form.
most meditators who do right meditation, develop a permanent pressure along the nosebridge and between the eyes!

this pressure can be moved around within the body initially, later on outside.
its a form of remote sensing is the best way i can describe it. you know exactly the texture, weight, and various other attributes of an object you are "touching" with your intention and chi.
its weird to escape, its sort of a different faculty or sense organ thats working completely differently!

ps: sexual purity (aka celibacy, which means 0 orgasms and 0 lustful ideation) boost this immensely!

Reminder not to practice breath work in a shitty environment or near sick people or you might get sick!

Sadly, all I know for sure is suffering does enhance your ability to open your chi, if you can handle the mental stress. Attachment is death, bro, what else can I say?

Interesting. One reason I asked for advice was that a few years ago I spontaneously felt chi and I did happen to be going through an "interesting" period. But it stopped so I was looking for ways to intentionally recreate the sensitivity.

what's required is stillness and a clear energy system so that the light of awareness can present itself in those layers.

it takes as long as it takes, and there are layers to the type of quality of "seeing"

the fastest route is by far to find a teacher who can demonstrate skill in these arts and then be worthy of their instruction.

You have to build it up first. Eat healthy food, get plenty of sleep, get lots of sunlight, exercise, and minimize negative emotions in your life. Do not jerk off. Then, do breathing practices such as spinal cord breathing and the three yogic locks (bandhas).

Eventually, you will feel sexually aroused. Focus on that feeling - it is your qi, built up in your genitals. Use the three bandhas with the goal of directing that energy upward through your spine toward the crown of your head. This will take a lot of practice, but if you do it right, you'll feel the energy surge upward and eventually diffuse throughout your entire body. It will feel like a full body orgasm, much like a psychedelic high.

You may feel the energy getting "trapped" in parts of your spine - this is an indication that you have blocks/misalignments in your spine. The goal of yoga poses is to open up these blocks and allow energy flow throughout the body, especially the spine. Look up yoga poses to open up your blocks and practice them as often as possible.

This is the secret to semen retention that most people don't understand, and it's why they fail and go back to jerking off. If you don't transmute your qi, it will just give you a general feeling of anxiety that won't go away until you ejaculate.

Its all there already. Try not to master bait for a month and pay attention to your body. Notice those changes of pressure inside your body whenever you feel an emotion, or get aroused. Notice how the air moves within your body after certain stimuli
