Because what is good and honest is not always pleasant, but bad people have no qualms avoidkng such issues or deceiving people for the sake of being likeable.
Even intelligent people can have trouble resisting the charisma of someone who is always pleasant to be around. Charisma is a very dangerous thing, somebody who genuinely wants to be good will often sacrifice their charismatic appeal for the sake of it, someone self serving never will.

    >Why are narcissists, psychopaths and evil people tend to be well liked while actual good people are just ignored or used when convenient

The only people they attract are people like them who are lower on the food chain. You'll never see two narcs/psychos in good standing with each other because it creates a state of competition and conflict. Sith Master with his apprentice type shit

Social situations are regulated by high agreeableness and low conflict. The average person does not know how to respond to conflict and will either fawn or freeze (laugh or stay silent). This means the people who are exploitative of others fear and sociability are generally at an advantage.

    >Why are narcissists, psychopaths and evil people tend to be well liked while actual good people are just ignored or used when convenien
    >How come [this thing that's not true]
Many narcissists and evil people are abandoned by their family and community because they are essentially unlikeable, disagreeable, unpleasant and do things that are undesirable and refuse to do things that are desirable. Many good people are like by others because they are essentially, likeable, agreeable, pleasant, and do things that are desirable and don't do things that are undesirable.

There are also people who are not really lovely because they neither fully eschew evil, disagreeable, unlikeable, undesirable conduct nor cleave to good, agreeable, likeable, desirable conduct. I bet you are one of these people, tbh. In my experience, only those kind of people think things like "How come rich people succeed in life and good people die broke and unloved" or whatever.

I feel like these people can be damaging in their own right. They mumble, grumble and poison drip reality. Their ambivalent stance makes them susceptible to being used as flying monkey's to the charismatic narcissist.

I wouldn't say this is a black and white scenario like most of you would like to think.

Narcissits and straight up evil people swing from likable to hateful from time to time.

The biggest example midwits like you would understand is the Bide and Trump scenario. As far as I'm concerned they're both absolute shit people but they seem to appeal to people as some sort of saviours.

One is a senile .pdf dumbfrick and the other is a grifting buffon so they have people loving and hating them both.

Politicians are an inherently bad example because their appeal to the average person is based primarily on media skewing rather than their in person sociability. No one on this board knows what it's like to actually interact with either of them in person on a regular basis.

There's the belief that nice people roll over easy so they are targeted by the people OP described. The reality is "nice" people are (sorry) often very cowardly. Strength is desired and revered in today's world so naturally people will take advantage of others to have "power".

The only answer i been able to come up with is a non answer: evil is irrational and inexplicable: its contrary to nature and all that. Perhaps you could chalk it up to this is what happens with (artificial) societies when you largely remove natural selection
