I can lucid dream easily at any time I want. Just stay awake while your body goes to sleep, ez. If you have to ask it's not gonna happen. Induce obe's artificially and then it's a lot easier. If you have to ask how I'm not gonna tell you, you couldn't handle it and you are the type to end up getting rekt. Maybe start with one of the million books on the topic.

Every time I try to induce an OBE by just staying absolutely still, I get very hot and nothing happens. Even after more than an hour

        Anonymous

You don't induce anything, you just go to sleep. You do it every night, the only difference is you don't forget that you're going to sleep. Instead of thinking about random things, just stay aware. The more tired you are the easier it is. You can fall asleep in a few minutes, you can maintain focus for a few minutes?

What kind of GABA (show Amazon link?) and how much benadryl?

        Anonymous

Gaba doesn't do anything, it's a placebo, benadryl will give you dementia, it shrinks your brain and will make you moronic. You're better off using nicotine, just get a vape and hit a few times before bed, if you get up to piss hit it again. It only works for him because he's expecting it to work. You have to know you're gonna do it, and actually believe it. Intent and faith in it happening is 99% of it.

          Anonymous

I never "expected" it to work. And you can apply your own stilted logic to nicotine as well, not to mention the negative effects on the brain that nicotine also has.

I'm by no means a pro lucid dreamer but I've had three lucid dreams recently with my journey reading and discovering new things about dreaming and sleep.
      1. Write down all your dreams. If you can't remember your dreams, you should still write something down like "I didn't remember my dream". Anything is better than nothing, a guess is something so write away even if it's just three or four words.
      2. Caffeine will kill your dream gains. Absolutely no caffeine six hours before bed, you really should limit it or cut it out completely. Caffeine delays the REM cycle, limiting the amount you will have, REM sleep is where you are most likely to dream and most vividly.
      3. No blue light before bed. Turn off all your lights two hours before bed and put away the phone. You could also pick up glasses which block blue light. If you really wanna use tech before bed get a pair made for laser welding which blocks 99% blue light.
      4. When used correctly, WILD and WBTB (wake induced lucid dream and wake back to bed) will get you a lucid dream on the first try, though it may be short, that's how I did it. Wake up four to five hours into your sleep cycle (for most it's five for me it's four) and remain awake for an hour while not doing anything too stimulating. Now after waiting lie down and don't move your body at all not even an inch, breath calmly and keep your mind focussed, imagine shapes, colors or count numbers... eventually you'll enter hyponogia and then fall back asleep into REM fully conscious.
I'd recommend you read more on lucid dreaming fourms or even Reddit, /x/ dream posting sucks ass.

Anticholinergics will limit delay/limit REM sleep although they'll make the dreams far more vivid but it's not worth it since it makes it hard to remember your dreams, plus it's a fricking delirant, don't do it.
P.S. Sex dreams don't work for me and likely won't work for you. They wake me up since I get too excited. Dream fricking is for the masters.

        >They wake me up since I get too excited
It's wierd that this happens to me for dream sex a lot but not for lucid dreams where I'm fighting/killing things. At least I can usually keep the erotic stuff going for a few minutes before I wake up. That's something.

        >3 “no blue light before bed”

I tried this and while I got excessively exhausted, the moment I went into my bed I ended up not being as tired (shortly before that I did 35 pushups as part of routine)

That was last night and I didn’t really go anywhere, is this necessary because I’d rather spend my time not having to read books for 2 hours before bed if it’s not going to give any results.

As for 4, I haven’t had a ounce of success with WILD and I think I’m doing it correctly, as for WBTB it just leaves me tired in the morning when I wake up due to the disturbed sleep. As for the counting part on both, I typically try to sync it to my breath but shortly give up and just fall asleep and not remember it. So I might try the whole imagining shapes and colors shit.

And for number 1, I’ve kept a dream journal for multiple months occasionally taking a break between bothering to write anything down for a couple of weeks or a month. For this morning I wrote down atleast a paragraph’s worth of what I remembered but none of it seems significant and is just random, and compared to my last recorded dream there’s nothing alike between them. Supposedly you’re supposed to find some emotional connection or “dream symbol” between dreams but I haven’t had any success and my dreams are just too random to really link together. The only reoccuring theme/thing that happens off of the top of my head is usually some sort of stinging/biting insect (almost always wasps) ending up crawling on my face and body or biting me. I still don’t know why this happens but it’s very discomforting when it does, and I’ve only awaken from it once.

As for things I could work on, I should probably not immediately move on waking up as it’s a well engrained habit at this point and I can’t tell when I just woke up as I’m busy getting out of bed or just on my phone a couple of minutes (10-15min)

Otherwise “reality checks” seem to exhausting and difficult for me, and I don’t get how someone can do 10-40+ checks a day without having to be inconvenienced in some other way, as in my case when I tried setting a alarm for every hour of the day which was twelve times from waking up to falling asleep, although the alarm typically triggered at the most inconvenient moments to do a check.

If someone could provide an actually easy way to do them that’s not just the vague “imagine that you are dreaming” shit that I keep seeing in literature, then I’d be happy.

        >If you can't remember your dreams, you should still write something down like "I didn't remember my dream".
That one is particularly important. Even if no recall occurred, it establishes a routine, a reality check, and a grounding point all at the same time to log sleep and dream information on a consistent basis.

Wait until you do inception style waking up in a dream into another dream into another dream then back into "reality"...Ive only ever been 3 dreams deep , it was very cool but it fricked me up as you will store those warped dreams as actual memories that feel just as if not more real than reality.

No luck with number 4, woke up at ~3:24AM and I can’t recall why other than just waking up. For context I went to bed around 11:00PM, stayed up for nearly a hour until it was 4:18AM and then went to sleep and tried doing the whole “stay awake while doing the counting thing” and it wasn’t working. I’d just occasionally get a weird feeling but the moment I realized it/felt shocked it just went away.

Anyways thanks for the tip on not having to write dream details every day even if you didn’t remember them, I’ll definitely use the “I don’t remember dreaming” thing as no other fricking guide on leddit or those shitty “become lucid” websites did anything.

        >le reality checks are difficult
Place reminders on your phone, computer, buy a bracelet or ring to remind you to do reality checks, my reality check is very simple: I pinch my nose and try to inhale, in a dream you can breath normally while doing this.
You have to do this 20 to 30 times a day to work, so every time you see a reminder you must do a reality check, 2 to 4 reality checks an hour.
        >le mentalize becoming lucid
        sorry bro, ESL here
Literally imagine that you are dreaming, imagine that in that dream you do a reality check, imagine you realizing you are dreaming and doing something deliberate (flying fr example) in that dream. Do this over and over until you fall asleep.

        >I’d just occasionally get a weird feeling but the moment I realized it/felt shocked it just went away.
Sorry buddy, you were so close to lucid dreaming. That feeling you got you was your brain beginning to dream, it's called hypnagogia which is the transition from wake to sleep with the reverse being hypnopomia, sleep to wake. It can be scary since your brain is disconnecting itself from reality... this causes disorganized thoughts and for around 70% of people (not me though) this causes full on hallucinations. It's tour mind losing the ability to tell the deference between self created stimuli and the outside world. Hypnagogia is natural, we usually don't notice since we're already at a low level of consciousness. I've never had full on hypnagogic halluncinations but I've had hypnopomic ones right after waking up like red eyes in shadows.
You can do it but you can't be scarred, this is why you focus on breathing and remain calm. Once you're deep into hynagogia you'll feel your body become heavy and then paralyzed, whatever you do don't panic it's just a ride it's meant to be fun.

For me what happend the first time after doing this method is first I felt my body regain its weight and I woke up in my dream in a realistic version of my bedroom except my phone was in my hand and morphing around and my dog poofed from reality. I then walked around, flew, took drugs, met Peter Griffin and rode on top of a very tiny sports car... it's good shit!
Even if WILD + WBTB doesn't work for you, you're still gonna find sucess in your lucid dreaming journey.
P.S. I woke up about 45 minutes ago from a crazy fricking non-dream where I fought an evil Giancarlo Esposito and we both had time travel powers and reversed time over and over again in a fist to fist fight. Also there was a chimp who worked for the villeins whose only job was to punch people in the balls. I'm now gonna do WILD + WBTB and try for lucid dream myself.

Lucid dreaming is cool but since you're on /x/ I think you should try to induce sleep paralysis and hypnogogia rather than fully lucid dreams. The significance of dreams is that it's your subconscious, so from a symbolic perspective your goal should be to remain unlucid while dreaming, but able to remember them when you wake up.

Mine usually don't. Though they do tend to switch scenes when I get bored of one thing. I have noticed I can opt out of nightmares, don't really lucid dream often, but anytime I have a nightmare, I reach a point where I realize "Oh, I don't need to be here" and just wake up.

Sometimes while addressing the people in my dream, like when I was in a zombie apocalyspe and saw a zombified deer outside and went "Wow, the world is fricked" and then said "Well, I'm out of here" to the people I was sheltering with and woke up

Though what usually makes me realize its a lucid dream is I wake up and try to turn on the light in my room and it doesn't turn on. Then I don't do anything whacky, I just get annoyed and end the dream, usually by running down the stairs until the dream stops repeating or I wake up.

Though one time I wandered around my darkened house and found that no one else was there. Not even whack ass monsters, disapointing

Lucid dreaming doesn't mean you're in full control and can fullfill your desires willy-nilly, it simply means you're conscious that you're dreaming. Even if you're a master of lucid dreaming most things will be outside your conscious control. Just try talking to dream characters and they'll tell you some strange esoteric shit you can't predict. Lucid dreaming is still an exploration of the unconsciousness mind, just one where the conscisous and subconscious are free to interact as two semi independent entities.

I had a cool-ass dream that was like one of those old, super gory anime OVAs from the 80s like Genocyber. There were these grotesque alien creatures going around tearing people to shreds. These two high school delinquents built like brick shithouses tried defending themselves with metal pipes and visibly wounded the creatures with a swing but were still torn to shreds. In the city these armored troopers with huge bolter-like guns were fighting the aliens but taking heavy losses. Then the scene shifted to two government/military agents that were trying to rescue civilians from an evac center at a sports stadium that was being overrun. One had sone kind of railgun and the other has draped a corpse of an alien over his shoulder and was using it's sharp tail as a weapon. Things get kinda hazy there but I'm pretty sure they failed and everyone died, lol. They weren't the main characters I guess.

I had a dream before where I was running from the cops with some other guys who roped me into their petty criminal bullshit. The cops were like inhumanly fast and caught me quick and one shot me. Then I woke up in a strange room and saw the bullet had been extracted from me and I had been patched up. Then the cop that shot me came in and explained that he faked my death because we had to go hunt sone shadowy organization that was responsible for the death of one of his family members.

I started taking this stuff about 6 months ago and have had lucid dreams maybe 4 times a week. I just cycle it off for a week after finishing a bottle. I meditate 3 hours a day too though, so that could be another contributing factor.

Wait, can abstaining from fapping increase your chance of vivid/lucid dreams?
