Day2 of 20 min meditation

I try to relax my body and not think of anything but for the whole 20 mins that felt like an hour, i kept remembering shit from my past and was slipping into daydreaming about what i was remembering but i would stop myself every time i noticed.

Am i doing this shit right?

It takes practice obviously. There shouldn't be any voice image or thought inside your head
If you're thinking of something you have to stop it
This is why people are suggested to focus on a candle or phrase or something to eliminate every other thought
Then you get rid of that too and you hold that as long as possible
    Total nothing
Once you're a master you can live that way

      buddha meditated lying down.

      easiest posture is lying down.
      relax-max is the key.
body scan every single body part and imagine letting go. this goes beyond normal relaxing, it will give tingles.
      do from toe to head.

when you finish the head, rest your awareness right in the center of your skull.
let it simply fall into your skull from all around.

then when you are at the center of your skull, stop straining the mind.
      release the mind.
hallucinations are gonna start (daydreaming or full blown remote viewing), but you must not budge in your non-straining. do not react in any way.
do not strain to not react, as that is a reaction too.
      just let go.

let absolutely everything go, except 1 thing:
      awareness.

this is how you enter the dream world without falling asleep.
this is called jhana/kingdom of heaven/the astral plane etc.

one weird phenomena precedes it and kicks people out because its freaky.
its called "piti" in buddhism, rapture in christendom and in the astral projection domain, its simply referred to as the "vibrational state".
this is you having full body intense goosebumps, 100x more intense then you have ever head.
if you react here, it stops or halts at that stage and you have sleep paralysis.

you are basically circumcising the astral double from the physical body, thus the vibrations occur. you simply have to let that go to be able to fully circumcise the spirit from the flesh and to enter heaven.

      just "die before death"!
      die daily!

The point is to empty your mind for the sake of the present, not to apparate an empty mind. Observe your thoughts without judgment-- do not chastise yourself for having the thought-- then allow the thought to separate from and pass from you. These thoughts are coming to you for a reason. Don't fight it. Allow and breathe and focus your attention upon your breathing.

sounds normal. it feels great to think what you want if you want, keep going
pretty insane if the mind can decide what you think and feel don't you think

The basis of the meditative state is being attentive, observant, aware.

Relaxing your body in the beginning is good, personally when I just focus on a muscle that muscle gets relaxed if it was tensed, it's almost like I don't need to send a "relax" signal for it to relax.

I'd advice to NOT sit and "try not to think", if a thought/intention about "wanting/needing to try not to think because THAT is the right meditation e.t.c." pops up then just watch it, don't "become" it, watch it.

Let the mind put labels on things, let it revive old forgotten memories, let it narrate scenarios, let it do its thing, it's an organ and it's doing its work as it should, what YOU should do is just do nothing, yes, nothing, just sit and be. Maybe this will bring up emotions and thoughts of anxiety, maybe you will think "No, I have to correct things, to analyze things and find the correct way e.t.c." - just watch that thought.

Maybe use an object as an anchor, your breath is a good one, if you find your mind being really wild on some days and make the thoughts of your mind your object, just focus on it and watch it with absolute neutrality.

Don't think about achieving goals, those are also thoughts and nothing more.

    >Am i doing this shit right?
Doubt WILL come, you will encounter thoughts which doubt your practice "Maybe I am doing this wrong?", remember that there is no right and wrong meditation, only the label that your mind put on it.

      Same anon:
People say that once a thought shows up then you should "stop it right away", others say that you can't really stop your thoughts.
I personally say that once you become aware that you were thinking and you catch that thought then you stop it from putting your into a narrative-driven daydream because you just became aware of what is going on, like you just "woke up" from a mini-sleep.

Something else you can also do is to focus on that thought and instead of making it into a scenario you see where it came from, let's say for example that you daydreamed of petting dogs and kissing them, if you are strong enough you can dive deep into the root of the thought and see that it came from a craving for love and affection. However this is more like contemplation than real meditation. (Some call it western meditation).

You are talking to q parasite being able to clear your mind is a skill and being able to think and feel is also a skill. In buddhism it is literally called skillfulness. Its like how wizards say adept or neophyte

            Ah, that's what you mean.
Yes I said to let the mind do its own thing if it wants but you don't have to entertain it or give become hypnotized by it, just become aware that it's just the mind producing thoughts.

They way you're describing it, meditation is only for sinful people, people whom are full on possessed with demons.

        yes.

        Anonymous

Why you say that? What is sinful about what I described?

The way I see it is that meditation is what allows one to see truth as it is in its whole, how is that sinful?

And how is being truthful connected with demon possession? If one becomes vigilant of his inner word through meditation shouldn't that allow him to say no to those demons?

No. Meditation, supposedly an egalitarian thing is paywalled and you cannot really get into it if your life is shit. If you are poor, broke and got bad people in your life.
You really don't need it anyway. I've resisted liberation hudreds of times from the goddess and i hardly ever meditated. You are just messing with things you shouldn't.

Unsticking your awareness from your default overthinking mode is a huge benefit.

You can then beging seeing life from other points of view, you can understand things your thinking mind blocked you from understanding.

Plus if you manage to stay in sitting silence long enough you can even arrive at various strange states of divine knowledge.

        Go for it.
