I Hope you will live a long, meaningful and happy life

I really really doubt the events in the bible happened as described by the apostles. Even if Jesus did exist - his birth to a virgin was fabricated to make him fit into the prophecy of a messiah post-mortem. Similarly with his resurrection and various miracles.

Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

      John 15:4-5
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

      Genesis 2:15
And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

      James 4:10
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

      Luke 23:43
And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

      1 Corinthians 2:9
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—

I'm looking at gnosticism and I feel as though the OT God truly differs from the NT Jesus Father. What you mance to point me in the right direction?

          Proverbs 16:16
How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

          Solomon prays for Wisdom
1 Kings 3:7 And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of David my father, although I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in. 8 And your servant is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen, a great people, too many to be numbered or counted for multitude. 9 Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”
10 It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this.

          James 3:17
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

          Proverbs 4:6-7
Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.

It's both real, and symbolic at the same time, that's how amazing God is. Your body also is both real but also contains symbolism, and also how the world is created, both real and symbolic. Here are 2 sources you might enjoy:

      Isaiah 55:8-9
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

      Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

      James 2:17
So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

      James 1:22

so doing deeds and asking? I've done both, I've fed homeless people, I've shown people Christ's glory and they've become more active Christians. I've even asked the Holy Spirit to explain which way is the truth to me so I can have total faith without uncertainties. The Bible by itself as it is translated has way too many contradictions, and something that offered a broader picture seemed quite inviting. Now what?

Well those were your verses but.

Our own mind, or our own idea of what we deserve by what time, will always differ from the plan an infinite mind makes for us. Plus another thing of this generation is that in general we have become very impatient, and want everything fast!
A decent amount of people, get annoyed in these waiting periods, but those periods are practice for us to exercise patience, but also to become more greatful of the smaller things, and they allow us to recuperate energy etc, until we are ready for something new.

But yes, all of your good deeds are recorded, but we also don't do them to get repayed. Ultimately we do it for good itself, HOWEVER, God does always reward good and eventually by more than we expect. But doing good deeds may never become a way to control God of get things from God. Which is what the occultists do, they seperate God's laws from God, and try to manipulate God or exclaim that they are God. But in fact we obey the Law(s) and can only do what they make possible, within the freedom that was provided by them.

Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

We will always be servants, either of Good or of evil, but we will never be masters.

Matthew 23:10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

Look into these resources, they are great entry points into bigger things if you want more faith by truth.

            >Ultimately we do it for good itself.
            >We always get repaid.
            >Although we know we'll get repaid, we don't expect it.
            >I expect you to believe this.
            >We will get repaid even more than we expect.
            >Don't expect to get repaid.
            >Anything you get will technically be more than you expect if you do as I say.
            >Be a servant. That's *something*.

maybe you will get what you expect, which is a real form of byzantine logic.

Yea, I love this. I find it very interesting what kindoff problems and trials everyone has. And the Lord is always uplifting. That's why its also called, The Good News!

      James 5:18
Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.

      Hosea 6:3
Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”

      Job 42:12
The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. 13 And he also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch. 15 Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.
16 After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. 17 And so Job died, an old man and full of years.

Well, this God claims to be a set of principles which are found through out the whole universe, such as Logic/Truth.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

But besides being the fabric by which many things work, he also has a consciousness that can be interacted with on a personal basis.

And that is also one of the beings, that will always be with you! So you are never alone, but most of us should indeed also be surrounded by other similar beings.

Genesis 2:18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

      Anyway, here are your verses:

      1 Corinthians 16:14
Let all that you do be done in love.

      Colossians 3:14
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

      Luke 6:38

        The Parable of the Talents
14 “For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. 15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money. 19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ 26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest.

        >Well, this God claims to be a set of principles which are found through out the whole universe, such as Logic/Truth.
Is he one of many gods or the absolute principle, as in the everything? And is the god you're talking about the one from the Bible?

Those are some rough discussions, which are very hard because of semantics.

But to eventually truly find God, we need to surpass just knowledge anyway.
And you do that by taking action, having good intent, and faith in what you do know. If you desire to know God, you will get a personal relationship, and will surpass all the intellectual questions.

This is what western society has lost, and what every movie is about! The way of the heart! Not the way of the brain. (for in the way of the brain sits a luciferian desire to become allknowing)

Bible has too many contradictions. Also too many failed promises.

I don't find it reliable when I inevitably find a verse that says the opposite. Or god simply does not fulfill the blessings and sayings he puts in there.

It's marketing material overselling the deity.

I've read the Philokalia, which is an orthodox text I think. But besides that I haven't read much Orthodox materials.

I have read the apocrypha and pseudepigrapha. I started out reading most of the stuff on https://sacred-texts.com/ And the Bible was actually one of the later books I got to. But the more I read the Bible, the more I was able to find all of the knowledge of the other books in there as well. However, in some of the other books, some things are more openly or explained differently which can help.

The Bible gives you a correct and stable and clear basis for everything.

      2 Timothy 2:7
Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

Hello. I am a young adult. Became Catholic a few years ago. Fell away from practicing due to rampant pornography addiction that I've had since I was very young. I still think about God and the Bible at least everyday in some capacity. I do not blame Him or anyone else for my problems. I know I need to go back to church and stop my sinful ways, but I would rather take the easy route and stay at home looking at porn. I know I should go back to SA as well. All my friends that I graduated HS and keep in contact with have ridiculous careers and/or married/soon to be married at this point. I have a temporary job in blue collar that could lead to full time in the future. I really want a wife but I know I cannot be trusted with something like that yet because of the aforementioned addiction (a saint that I can't remember once said something along the lines of "don't wish for a woman until you are ready to be a man"). My entire future feels so uncertain, and I am afraid of being left behind so to speak compared to my peers, and that I am burning precious time. I see the numbers "316" and "636" a lot; at least once a week. Most commonly on clocks, but it has appeared in video games, videos, my job, etc. I do not look for the numbers but they just readily appear to me. 3:16 is the famous "so God loved the world" verse, but I have never been able to figure out what they correlate to in the Bible or if they mean anything at all. The thread looked good, so I figured I'd post this. Thanks.

Hi, yes you should try to figure out the meaning of these numbers.

Matthew 18:21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not just seven times, but seventy-seven times! 23 Because of this, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.…

For example, in this verse, why would the writers of the bible not work out the multiplication of 70 x 7 = 490? Because they need the symbolism of the factors 70 and 7. And also, is 490 times really the exact amount you should forgive someone? And not 491 and 489?

Bible is filled with symbolism. More normal symbolism, like parables, but also number symbolisms. Everyone knows number 3 and 7 are disproportionately used, and not only in the Bible but also fairy tales and other texts...

And in general, there is a special reason, why Jesus teaches with parables, where you have to think for yourself, and not like modern textbooks with definitions and examples, where all knowledge is freely given!

      ---

Matthew 13:34 All these things spoke Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spoke he not unto them:

      1 Corinthians 13 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all MYSTERIES, and all knowledge;

Mark 4:33-34 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

Matthew 13:11 He replied, “The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.

There's a thing called angel numbers (mostly non christians that use that), or prophetic numbers (more the christian term for that). But imo using angel numbers is fine, you have to use your own discernment but, a lot of it is useful.

        >famous verse 3:16
That will probably be part of the message, but God can keep using that number and show you many other things. I personally had the number 33 a lot, with verses such as:

Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

        >other friends have careers etc
It might be that you never popped off because you are meant for something that wasn't available for you in early life.

        Anyway, some verses for you:

        1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

        Psalm 118:24
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

        Proverbs 3:13-18
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than israeliteels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. ...

        Proverbs 18:15
An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

thank you for all this! I hope in time the numbers reveal what they mean, or I find the meaning out myself like you said. I like to believe a lot has already been revealed to me in the Bible. I had questions about the hierarchy of the world and in time it has been shown to me (sometimes via greentexts on this site lol) the lineage of Esau and Cain and where the Pharisees came from and what their descendants are. Is this a regular thing you do on /x/? Or is this a onetime thing? I don't really check this board much except for the greentext threads.

The Parable of the Lost Son
11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

Don't tell Christians what you're doing though, they cannot comprehend the good of it and they'll activate defenses to prevent you from helping people. 9/10 if you use magick selflessly, it WILL work and you can rejoice in seeing these people happy.
